Chapter 1524
Meanwhile, at the Farwell residence, Catalina watched the two seated figures on the couch with a troubled expression. Sonya demanded furiously, "Where's Lucian? I heard he let those two stay at the manor. Is that true?"
Elias, sitting beside her, rubbed his temples. "Regardless of your dissatisfaction, they are still outsiders. There's no reason to direct your anger at them. Deal with Lucian directly, if you must. The children are innocent."
Sonya composed herself, slightly. "If Roxanne hadn't seduced our son, why would heโ"
"You're underestimating Lucian and overestimating Roxanne," Elias interrupted, unsure how to proceed. Both were dear to him, so he chose not to interfere in their dispute.
Sonya, refusing to listen to reason, instructed Catalina, "Prepare a guest room for us. We're staying here for now."
Catalina, unable to refuse, went upstairs to tidy the room, inwardly praying Ms. Jarvis wouldn't face Sonya's wrath upon her return. After preparing the room, Catalina cautiously reported back.
"Let's go upstairs and rest," Elias said in a low voice.
Sonya, still seething, replied, "I can't sleep. You go ahead. I'll wait for Lucian to come home and clarify things."
Elias sighed but didn't insist, heading upstairs. Sonya remained on the couch, sipping coffee, her chest heaving with rage.
Lucian hadn't attempted to conceal Archie and Benny's presence. News of it quickly spread among the elite. Sonya, learning this from a third party, rushed to Lucian's home, intending to send the boys away. She waited until eleven o'clock before hearing sounds outside.
Her gaze fixed on the door, her expression hardening. She saw bodyguards carrying suitcases inside, followed by Lucian, Roxanne, and the children. Fury shook her. "What's the meaning of this?" she demanded, pointing at Roxanne. "Why are you here so late?"
Lucian, surprised by his mother's presence, shielded Roxanne. "I asked Roxanne to come. They're staying here."
Roxanne stepped forward, politely greeting Sonya, "Pardon the intrusion, Mrs. Farwell."
"Don't address me that way!" Sonya roared. "Send those suitcases back!"
The bodyguards looked to Lucian for instruction. He gestured, "Go on." They obeyed.
Sonya's face burned with anger. "Are you ignoring me? How could you bring them home without telling us? Do you respect me or your father?"
Lucian retorted, "Would you have agreed if I'd asked?"
Sonya's silent grimace answered him.
"Why should I humiliate myself by anticipating your disapproval?" he said firmly. "Since I've decided they'll stay, I'll take responsibility. After Roxanne accepts my proposal, we'll have the wedding immediately. I want to announce she's my wife."
