Chapter 15: Asserting Dominance Over Roxanne

Aubree emerged from the fitting room after a considerable time. "Not bad. This is the one," Sonya nodded, satisfied with her outfit.

Aubree smiled, then turned to Lucian. "You're here, Lucian!"

Lucian nodded curtly.

Aubree unaffectedly continued, "Mrs. Farwell invited me to get my outfit. What do you think? Isn't it nice?" She twirled to display it.

Lucian, aware of Sonya's machinations, merely nodded and replied, "Yes."

Aubree was slightly embarrassed by his coldness but maintained her smile.

Sonya stood. "Since Aubree is also going to the Queen residence, she should ride with us."

"Thank you, Mrs. Farwell!" Aubree replied, then glanced sheepishly at Lucian.

He frowned. "Let's go." He couldn't refuse Sonya's suggestion. He turned and left without another look at Aubree.

Aubree lowered her gaze, aggrieved. Sonya patted her arm comfortingly. Aubree nodded, affectionately linking arms with Sonya, and they left.

Lucian remained silent throughout the car ride, his coldness unconcealed, only responding to Sonya. Aubree clenched her fists, frustrated. I must assert my dominance over Roxanne later, she thought.

At the Queen residence, Alfred exchanged pleasantries until his fatigue forced him into a wheelchair provided by Jonathan. Roxanne, intending to leave after greeting him, was instructed to stay.

"Since you're interacting with guests, let me introduce you," Alfred said. Jonathan agreed.

Roxanne had no choice but to stay, greeting guests with Alfred. Soon, Jonathan's parents arrived.

"Dr. Jarvis, it's a pleasure to finally meet you! Jonathan and Frieda have told us about your cure of Old Mr. Queen. You possess superb medical skills and are stunningly beautiful," Henrietta Chance, Jonathan's mother, praised.

Roxanne thanked her. Zachary Queen, Jonathan's father, also expressed his gratitude, promising the Queen family's assistance.

Roxanne began to demur, but Alfred interjected, "Of course! Dr. Jarvis will continue to monitor my health."

Roxanne smiled faintly.

Frieda, displeased by the compliments, searched for Lucian and Aubree. Spotting their absence, she watched the entrance expectantly. Let's see if that woman can still smile when Lucian arrives with Aubree!

"Lucian's here!" Frieda announced.
