Roxanne remained silent after greeting them. Alfred didn't give her a chance to leave, so she stayed and listened to their conversation.
Sonya shifted her gaze from Roxanne to Alfred. "What a blessing it is for the Queen family that you're well!"
Alfred smiled and nodded before turning to Roxanne. "It's all thanks to Dr. Jarvis. Without her, I'd still be bedridden!"
Everyone immediately turned to look at Roxanne.
Henrietta chimed in, "Indeed, Dr. Jarvis is the Queen family's savior." This directed Sonya and the others' attention toward Roxanne.
Roxanne smiled, slightly furrowing her brows. "I wouldn't call myself a savior. As a doctor, I was simply doing my job. I'm very glad to have cured Old Mr. Queen."
Alfred's admiration for her grew, impressed by her humility.
Sonya's face fell, noticing Alfred's attitude. Maintaining her smile, she said sarcastically, "Not too shabby for a young doctor. We've sought many renowned doctors, and none succeeded. How surprising."
Roxanne sensed the hostility despite Sonya's praise. Her heart sank, and she ignored Sonya.
Aubree resented the attention focused on Roxanne. Once silence fell, she released Sonya's arm and approached Alfred. In a coquettish tone, she said, "Old Mr. Queen, you're going to live a long and stress-free life now that you've recovered!"
Alfred shifted his attention and smiled. "Why do you say so?"
"Well, that's what people say! I know you're going to live a long life with great prosperity, Old Mr. Queen!" Aubree smiled.
Elated, Alfred replied, "Thank you! Let's hope you're right!"
He then shifted his gaze back to Roxanne, seemingly acknowledging her contribution.
Aubree noticed this, pouting and blaming herself. "It's such a shame I couldn't find a doctor as impressive as Dr. Jarvis. Otherwise, you wouldn't have suffered so long, Old Mr. Queen!"
Alfred quickly waved his hands. "Why would you say that? Although bedridden, I was aware of everything. You went to great lengths to find me many talented doctors; I'll always remember your kindness!"
With reddened eyes, Aubree replied, "Yet, all the doctors I found were useless"
Touched by her care, Alfred said, "I know you're a good person. You deserve credit for finding those doctors. I would have suffered more without you."
Henrietta quickly added, "You've been so thoughtful, Aubree. You've treated Old Mr. Queen like your own grandfather! We're very grateful." She then remembered Lucian's contribution. "Lucian, thank you too," she added.
Lucian nodded slightly. "We were just doing our duty."
Henrietta glanced at their outfits. "Good things come in pairs, right? Since you've been together for so many years, I guess we'll see you at your engagement party!"
