Chapter 1611: Too Flashy

A hint of amusement flickered across Lucianโ€™s eyes as he noted Roxanneโ€™s hesitant denial. In a deep voice, he instructed the head of Neon Boutique, โ€œKeep it simple. She doesnโ€™t like anything too extravagant.โ€

The stylist nodded repeatedly, praising Roxanne. โ€œMrs. Farwell is a natural beauty. Sheโ€™s gorgeous even without makeup. You two are a perfect match, Mr. Farwell!โ€

Roxanne dismissed the compliment; heโ€™d likely said the same to Aubree months ago.

The stylist spent two hours styling Roxanne and Lucian. He secured Roxanneโ€™s cascading hair with a gleaming pearl hairpin and gifted her pearl earrings. He applied subtle yet sophisticated makeup and dressed her in a snowy white slim-fitted blazer and skirt, creating a delicate and refined look. Lucianโ€™s sleek black suit, complemented by exquisite pearl cufflinks echoing Roxanneโ€™s earrings, completed the ensemble. At first glance, they looked like a couple.

Seeing their outfits, Roxanne hesitated. โ€œLucian, I thinkโ€ฆโ€ She wanted to say their matching attire was inappropriate, but Lucian, pleased with their appearance, informed the stylist he would purchase everything.

Roxanne was startled by the nearly million-dollar bill for the outfits and styling. The sheer cost, and the potential for further expenses, made her balk. Just because Lucian has money doesn't mean we should spend it recklessly, she thought.

They left Neon Boutique at one in the afternoon, an hour before the press conference. Jonathan, having called to check on their progress, was relieved to hear they were en route.

During the drive, Roxanne considered removing her earrings.

โ€œAre you afraid of others knowing about our relationship?โ€ Lucian asked, his tone displeased.

Roxanne paused. โ€œI just feel theyโ€™re too flashyโ€ฆโ€

โ€œThe media has been speculating since the last statement. Being seen together is practically an official announcement. What difference do our outfits make?โ€ Lucian replied, eyes fixed on the road. Heโ€™d feared Roxanne would refuse to match him. It had been a spur-of-the-moment decision to capitalize on the opportunity to publicly confirm their relationship.

Roxanne softened her tone. โ€œI donโ€™t mean to upset you. I just feel the signing ceremony is a work occasion.โ€ She gently nudged him. โ€œBesides, even without the earrings, our clothes still match.โ€

Lucian reached for her hand as she attempted to explain her concerns. The thought of the Farwell and Queen Group joint press conference still made Roxanne nervous. Throughout the drive, she peppered Lucian with questions, seeking his guidance. Noticing her anxiety, he reassured her.

Upon arrival, a throng of journalists surrounded Jonathan. As soon as Lucian and Roxanne exited the car, the reportersโ€™ attention shifted, and they surged towards the couple.
