Chapter 1613: Nothing to Do With Damaris Group

Meanwhile, Hector also saw the live internet broadcast. Seeing Lucian announce Farwell Group's collaboration with Roxanne's research institute, and Queen Group's supply of medicinal herbs, left him speechless. He switched on the television and summoned Jack.

"What's the matter, Grandpa?" Jack asked, having confidently expected Roxanne to yield. But upon entering the room and seeing the broadcast, he paled.

"Answer me," Hector demanded, clinging to a sliver of hope. "How is our collaboration with Dr. Jarvis progressing?"

Roxanne and Lucian were already signing the contract on screen. Jack, realizing he could no longer conceal the matter, feigned a lighthearted tone. "As you can see, not too well."

Hector slammed his cane on the floor. "Not too well? Not well enough that Dr. Jarvis sought another company for her medicinal herbs?"

Hector had heard of Roxanne's new drug, poised for market release. He'd even considered visiting the institute to learn more, but Jack had dissuaded him. At the time, he hadn't questioned Jack's actions; Damaris Group thrived under Jack's leadership, and he'd assumed this collaboration would be equally successful. Yet, his wait stretched to half a month, ending not with good news, but with the announcement of Roxanne's partnership with another company.

Seeing Hector's fury, and Roxanne and Lucian's closeness, Jack felt a surge of rage. He hadn't anticipated Roxanne seeking another partner, especially through the Farwells. He'd not only failed, but essentially gifted his idea to Farwell Group.

"I want an explanation!" Hector roared, his foot pounding the floor at Jack's silence.

Jack, regaining his composure, looked down, contemplating. "Grandpa, I tried to secure a collaboration, but Dr. Jarvis, with Lucian's guidance, proved inflexible regarding profits. She repeatedly stalled negotiations, making an agreement impossible."

Hector snapped, "Why didn't you come to me?"

Jack's gaze, though respectful, held a hint of disdain. "Dr. Jarvis requested time after our last negotiation. I never expected her to immediately work with another company. She's an excellent doctor, but a poor business partner, lacking integrity." He was clearly shifting blame.

"Shut up!" Hector threw a cup, his wrath evident. "Why didn't you seek my help when you couldn't agree on profits? I'm old, not dead!"

A collaboration with Roxanne would have elevated Damaris Group. But now, it was all lost.
