Chapter 1619

Just as Roxanne was considering her sore hips, Lucian emerged from the shower, making her heart skip a beat. "You should rest," he said, kissing her lightly. "The last two days have been exhausting."

Before Roxanne could respond, Lucian raised an eyebrow. "However," he added with a suggestive smile, "if you want company, I'm more than happy to oblige."

Her cheeks flushed, Roxanne burrowed under the covers. Soon, the sound of the hairdryer ceased, and Lucian joined her in bed, pulling her close. They slept soundly.

Roxanne awoke feeling refreshed. Then, Lucian received a call from Jonathan. While Lucian was still in the bathroom, Roxanne answered.

"Jonathan, what is it so early?" she asked.

Jonathan sounded surprised. "Roxanne?" He hesitated. "Is this a bad time? Where's Lucian?"

"He's showering," Roxanne replied softly. "What is it?"

Jonathan's imagination soared, but he quickly reined it in. "The first batch of medicinal herbs has arrived," he explained. "I'm at the port. Would you like to examine them?"

Roxanne was surprised. "That's fast," she said, expecting a two- or three-day delay.

Jonathan praised Lucian. "Lucian knew you needed them urgently, so he purchased the first batch himself, before the contract was even signed. He wanted to ensure you received them as soon as possible."

Roxanne was touched. When Lucian emerged from the bathroom, she offered him the phone, but he put it on speaker.

Jonathan continued, "Lucian went to great lengths to obtain these herbs for you. His feelings are genuine, Roxanne. You should cherish him. He's a truly wonderful man!"

Roxanne almost laughed at Jonathan's effusiveness, but Lucian's presence silenced her.

"Get to the point," Lucian interrupted curtly.

Jonathan stammered, "I asked Roxanne if she'd come to the port. I'm waiting here."

Roxanne relayed Jonathan's message to Lucian. "I'll go check the herbs. You take the children to kindergarten."

Lucian, though initially intending to drive her, reconsidered because of the children. "Then I'll pick you up this evening."

Roxanne smiled her agreement. After breakfast, Lucian took the children to kindergarten, while Roxanne went to the port. Jonathan, already there, resumed his enthusiastic praise.

Together, they inspected the herbs, exchanging pleasantries. Once satisfied, they arranged to send the herbs to the research institute for small-batch testing to ensure consistency with Damaris Group's product.

After the herbs were sent, Jonathan departed, as the remaining processes involved industrial secrets. Roxanne returned to her work.
