Chapter 1636: The Consequences Faced by the Damaris Family
Jack was becoming unmanageable. Lucianโs gaze darkened, a wave of fury washing over him. He struggled to control the anger that welled up at the thought of Roxanne, maintaining an impassive expression as he stared at Jack.
โI believe youโre willing to make sacrifices, Mr. Farwell. Iโm not greedy; Iโll only ask for one thing,โ Jack said slowly.
Lucianโs patience snapped. โWhat do you want? I have no authority over Roxanneโs assets, but you can request any Farwell Group subsidiaries!โ
Jack frowned. โIn that case, Iโll need time to consider. Mr. Farwell, you should leave; I canโt answer now. Iโll inform you of my decision later.โ
โJack Damaris!โ Lucian ground out, barely restraining himself from attacking.
Jackโs satisfaction grew with Lucianโs rising fury. โDonโt worry, Mr. Farwell. Only I can awaken Roxanne. Without me, sheโll remain a Sleeping Beauty forever.โ He let out a cold laugh. โPerhaps youโll be begging me for a kiss eventually!โ
A punch landed squarely on his cheek, the force jarring his head. His cheek instantly swelled and reddened.
Jack spat out blood, wiping it from his lips. He turned back to Lucian, his gaze cold. โMr. Farwell, it seems you intend to abandon Roxanne.โ
The dispassionate tone made Lucianโs provocation clear.
Lucian glared. โMind your words! Otherwise, Iโll kill you now rather than depleting Farwell Groupโs resources to save Roxanne! Weโll find someone to help her!โ
A chill ran down Jackโs spine at Lucianโs malice. He knew the threat was real. Jackโs arrogance faltered, but he tried to maintain his composure. โIโll give you my answer by tonight. Is that acceptable, Mr. Farwell?โ
Lucian nodded. โRemember your promise. If I donโt hear from you by tonight, I will relentlessly destroy you and the Damaris Group!โ
He turned and left. Jack gingerly touched his aching cheek, rage burning in his eyes as he watched Lucian go.
How dare Lucian speak to him like that when Roxanne's life was in his hands? Jack glared at the mansion. He knew Hector had to go; heโd sided with Lucian, an outsider, instead of him. He tasted blood, the metallic tang fueling his frustration.
Later, he entered the mansion. Hector, assisted by the butler, took his medicine, gradually regaining his composure. The butler comforted him. โMr. Damaris is young and arrogant; mistakes happen. Reprimand him, but donโt let anger harm your health. Heโs still family, and he wonโt act against the Damaris familyโs best interests.โ
Hector slammed the table. โHe defied the Farwells! If he provokes Lucian, what will become of the Damaris family?โ
