Chapter 1724: An Error in Judgment

With the children in tow, Jonathan left the manor. The three little ones were remarkably well-behaved and silent. He hesitated before calling Lucian, who answered after a few rings. "What is it, Jonathan?"

"Lucian, Iโ€ฆ I went to pick up Archie, but Benny and Essie insisted on coming, so I brought them all," he said nervously. He'd acted impulsively, unsure if it would cause trouble.

He expected a reprimand, but Lucian was silent for a moment before calmly agreeing. "Okay. Put the call on speaker so I can talk to them."

Jonathan, relieved, activated the speakerphone. "Your daddy wants to chat."

The children's eyes lit up. Leaning forward, they exclaimed, "Daddy! How's Mommy?"

The question pierced Jonathan's heart. He clenched his jaw, avoiding their innocent faces.

Lucian, after a pause, replied evasively, "Her condition is more serious, but she's written a prescription. We just need Archie's help with the herbs. Don't worry too much."

Benny and Estella were somewhat reassured. Mommy's skills are excellent. With the prescription, everything will be fine! they thought.

"Can we see Mommy?" they asked hopefully.

Lucian's eyes darkened. "She's at the hospital. Go straight to the research institute."

Disappointed but understanding, they agreed obediently.

"Behave yourselves and don't trouble Archie," Lucian instructed in a low voice.

"We will," Benny and Estella chirped.

Lucian then told Jonathan, "That's all. I'll wait at the institute."

Jonathan acknowledged and ended the call.

Lucian entered the research institute, where Peregrine, Madilyn, and Linda awaited.

"You're here, Mr. Farwell," Madilyn asked anxiously. "How is Roxanne? Is she being monitored?"

Lucian nodded. "I've assigned specialists to her care." He turned to Peregrine, handing him Roxanne's prescription. "Old Mr. Lomax, here's Roxanne's prescription. Please examine it."

Peregrine studied it intently. She drafted this quickly, while poisoned! I was nearly at my wit's end, but this young woman is astonishing! A few flaws, but it addresses the main issues. I just need to add some herbs to bolster her strength and mitigate risks.

Finally, he exclaimed, "I knew I wasn't wrong!"

The others looked at him questioningly.

Turning to Lucian, Peregrine said with awe, "You've found a treasure, my boy! That girl is a genius!"
