Chapter 1757: Will Make You Pay
“Because of old-fashioned doctors like you, the medical field is in this state!” Jack suddenly pulled a knife from behind his back and lunged at Roxanne, shouting, “If it weren’t for your foolishness, I wouldn’t be in this mess!”
Roxanne’s heart pounded at the sight of the blade. A crew member swiftly tackled Jack to the floor.
Clank! The knife fell as Jack struggled. “Let go of me! I paid you! How dare you help them? You scumbags! I’ll poison every one of you!”
The crew member silently continued to restrain him, then looked to Lucian for instructions. Lucian stared emotionlessly at Jack. “Since you consider Farwell Group an obstacle, you should have researched our assets before planning your escape.”
Jack fell silent, staring in disbelief. “Among the ten subsidiaries you coveted is a shipping company. Didn’t you notice?” Lucian looked down. “You only see money. Even if I gave you the company, what could you do with it?”
Jonathan added, “Friendly reminder: Farwell Group controls Horington’s shipping. This ferry belongs to us. You created your own trap.”
This ferry belonged to Farwell Group? Shock and regret washed over Jack. Lucian had known about his escape plan from the start; he’d been waiting. The late ferry and the captain’s announcements were all lies.
Hatred filled Jack’s gaze. “As for your money, we didn’t take a penny.”
The captain entered, greeted Lucian respectfully, then turned to Jack. “I donated every penny to the victims you defrauded. Consider it karmic retribution. You should thank me.”
Jack’s expression turned vicious. “You bastard! I’ll kill you!”
The captain ignored him, standing respectfully beside Lucian. Lucian said icily, “Stop it. The police are on their way. You’ll receive your due punishment.”
Jack, speechless with loathing, seethed. “I’ll never forgive you! Without you, Damaris Group would be a medical empire! You have no right to speak to me! When I return, I will make you pay!”
Roxanne’s eyes filled with pain. Who could believe the Damaris heir, a man of such promise, could be so consumed by greed?
“Let’s go.” Lucian, seeing her sorrow, took her hand and led her away. Jonathan and the captain remained to await the police.
