Chapter 1786: Pulling a Trick on Estella
The weekend arrived with clear skies and a gentle breeze, perfect weather for an outing. Lucian and Roxanne kept their promise to the children, taking them to the oceanarium early in the morning. They arrived before the biggest crowds, though it was still busy.
Lucian carried two well-stocked bags containing changes of clothes, hats, sunglasses, and plenty of food and drinks for the children. They preferred to avoid the oceanarium's potentially less hygienic food options. Despite the weight, Lucian carried the bags willingly.
"Put on some sunscreen, darling. The sun will hurt your skin," Lucian said as they entered, immediately attending to Roxanne's comfort. She smiled, noticing his recent and significant change in demeanor; he was far less cold and aloof.
The children excitedly debated their first destination. Archie, already having formulated a plan, advocated for starting on the left. "We need to think differently from the crowd to avoid congestion. Let's start with the sea lion park and save the most popular dolphin park and show for last. That's the best plan."
Benny countered, "Archie, because many people think like us, the left route will be more congested. Let's go right. We can always come back for the dolphin show."
Estella, unconcerned with strategy, declared, "I want to see the penguins first!"
The children turned to Lucian and Roxanne for a decision.
"Let's vote! We'll start with Essie's suggestion. Raise your hand to vote!" Lucian proposed.
Roxanne raised her hand, followed swiftly by Estella, Lucian (to avoid upsetting his daughter), Archie, and Benny. The family chuckled at the unanimous result.
Estella hopped with delight. "Okay. Let's head to the penguin park!" Lucian led the way.
Archie and Benny exchanged glances and whispered. "It's all your fault, Benny! Why did you tell Essie she needed to adopt a penguin before making a social media account? That's why she wants to see the penguins first!" Archie accused.
Benny replied sheepishly, "I was only joking! How was I to know she'd take it seriously?"
Roxanne, overhearing them, asked, "Did you two trick Essie again?"
They immediately denied it, then shifted blame: "No, Mommy! It's justโฆ Essie gave your laptop a virus."
Benny continued, "It was Archie! He made Essie program a new virus, said they needed to test it, and your laptop was chosen. I'm reporting him!"
Roxanne froze, on the verge of anger, as Archie and Benny hastily fled.
