Chapter 1841: Do Not Underestimate Lucian
Perhaps it was the effect of Sonya's soup, but Roxanne slept soundly, her pain significantly reduced. Lucian's call brought news of Sonya's car accident. He soon returned to the mansion, asking Roxanne with concern, โWhen did you last use your car? Has it been sent for repairs?โ
Roxanne then remembered Sonya had used her car that day. The coincidence of Mrs. Farwell's accident struck her. Trusting Lucian's judgment, she carefully considered, โI haven't been to a body shop recently! Yesterday was my last time driving it. However, I did notice the brakes felt faulty.โ
โWhere do you usually park? Have you lent it to anyone recently?โ Lucian inquired carefully, sensing a deliberate targeting.
Roxanneโs routine was predictable: home, the research institute, occasional visits to the hospital or company. She recounted her past three days, confirming she hadn't lent her car.
Lucian frowned. โSomeone tampered with your brakes. Linda and Madilyn should arrange to check the surveillance footage of your parking spot for the past seven days.โ
โIs Mrs. Farwell alright? Iโll go to the hospital,โ Roxanne insisted, concerned for Sonya.
โDonโt worry; Momโs okay. Sheโs in the hospital, Dadโs with her. Fortunately, she was driving slowly. Had it been you at seventy kilometers per hour instead of her forty, the outcome would have been far worse!โ Lucian emphasized the averted danger.
Roxanne, realizing how close she had come to serious injury, felt a chill. She immediately contacted Linda and Madilyn. Soon, the traffic police called to confirm the car's ownership and its impoundment. The inspection revealed a serious brake malfunction, strongly suggesting sabotage.
โMs. Jarvis, this accident injured your family member. Expect further police investigation; please cooperate fully.โ Roxanne readily agreed.
Lucian promptly called Cayden to examine surveillance footage along Roxanne's routes for the past few days. Ten minutes later, Roxanne, changed and ready, accompanied Lucian to the hospital.
Sonya had unwittingly become the victim instead of Roxanne, who had her period that day and stayed home. Sonya's car was broken, leading her to use Roxanne's. Was it truly coincidence?
Downstairs, in a black Mercedes-Benz, two figures sat in the backseat. Christina, in a low-brimmed hat, and Elektra, in oversized sunglasses, were nearly unrecognizable.
โElektra, convinced now? This accident was a minor diversion! Your actions, however, will escalate matters significantly!โ Christina smirked.
Elektra remained dubious. โChristina, you promised no direct harm. Donโt underestimate Lucian. One slip-up, and heโll catch you again!โ
The plan, initially targeting Roxanne, had unintentionally affected Sonya. But whether Roxanne or Sonya was injured mattered little; both were vital to Lucian. He would uncover the truth.
