Chapter 1855: Good Terms

Sonya arrived at the mansion early that morning. The children were already awake, eagerly awaiting their grandmother's arrival and the promised treats. Sonya, initially planning to buy local delicacies, ultimately decided to bake for them herself, perhaps dissatisfied with the available options. That morning, she presented them with osmanthus cake.

Roxanne awoke feeling the lingering effects of her ordeal. She even questioned whether Lucian had administered some sort of medication to enhance hisโ€ฆperformance. While he slept, she quietly dressed and went downstairs to greet Sonya.

โ€œYouโ€™re here early, Mom!โ€ she exclaimed, surprising Sonya. Seeing the children happily enjoying the treats in the kitchen, Roxanne then noticed Sonya approaching with a plate for her. After recovering from her surprise, Sonya smiled brightly. โ€œCome, try these cakes I made!โ€

Roxanne nodded. This familiar greeting felt natural, reminiscent of their interactions before her marriage to Lucian. Now married, Roxanne felt no need for shyness.

Sonya, after setting down the pastries, quickly retrieved a large, flat purse from her car. โ€œThis is for you, Roxanne. A wedding gift. Inside is a bank cardโ€”the number is lucky, though the balance isn't substantialโ€”and the deed to a beachside mansion I saw recently. You can take the children there for a vacation someday.โ€

Roxanne was stunned. Having anticipated a mere formality, she was touched by Sonya's thoughtful gift. With a gracious smile, she accepted it, โ€œThank you, Mom!โ€

Sonya beamed. โ€œThereโ€™s no need to thank me. Itโ€™s the least I could do. Let me know if you ever need anything.โ€ She had never expected such a warm greeting from Roxanne so soon, believing it might take years. Reflecting on it, Sonya realized Roxanne's straightforward nature. Since admitting her mistake, Roxanne had never embarrassed her. This only increased Sonya's remorse for her past actions. How stupid I was!

As Roxanne enjoyed the cake, she again praised Sonyaโ€™s baking. The children were equally delighted. Afterward, Roxanne went upstairs to retrieve a clothing set she had purchased for Sonya, intending to gift it upon receiving her marriage certificate.

โ€œI hope you like this, Mom. It should fit. Why donโ€™t you try it on?โ€

Sonya accepted the clothes with trembling hands, her eyes misting with emotion. โ€œAll right. Iโ€™ll go upstairs. This is exactly my style!โ€

Roxanne was surprised that such relatively inexpensive clothes could bring Sonya so much joy. Ah well, people are complicated. In the past, Sonya wouldnโ€™t have shown any interest in anything Roxanne bought for her.

Soon, Sonya reappeared, the clothes fitting perfectly and highlighting her beauty. After all, she had once been considered the most beautiful woman in her social circle.

โ€œIt suits me perfectly! You have excellent taste, Roxanne,โ€ Sonya complimented.

โ€œYou flatter me. I donโ€™t think I have a good eye for fashion! Tell me if youโ€™re unhappy with it, and Iโ€™ll exchange it.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s not necessary. I like it very much.โ€

Their improved relationship avoided many potential problems.

After Lucian awoke, Roxanne showed him her gift, then prepared to leave for the research institute after a goodbye kiss. She intended to discuss Elektra's partnership proposal and explore any unexplored avenues. Meanwhile, Sonya would take the children to kindergarten.
