Chapter 1871: A Lucky Date

At night, Roxanne returned from the research institute to find her three children pouting, Estella especially scowling. "Mommy," she said, "you promised to take me to the design expo, but you didn't! Daddy had to take me."

"Essie, don't be mad," Roxanne said. "Mommy's been very busy with work."

Archie and Benny quickly added, "That's right, Essie. Mommy will make it up to you."

Feeling guilty, Roxanne knelt beside Estella and apologized. "It's my fault, Essie. I forgot our promise. I'm so sorry." She wanted to set a good example by admitting her mistake.

Estella, surprised by Roxanne's serious apology, rushed into her embrace. "It's okay, Mommy. I forgive you. But could you tell me next time? I got up early, changed, and looked for you, but you weren't there!"

Roxanne kissed her cheeks. "I'm sorry. I'll tell you next time. You can make two requests, and I promise to fulfill them."

Estella needed time to think. Meanwhile, Lucian descended from the study, explaining that Roxanne had worked late to save a researcher's life. Archie, Benny, and Estella finally understood.

Estella nodded. "Mommy, you're amazing! I only have one request: Let's visit Aunt Madilyn. I haven't seen her in ages."

Archie and Benny agreed, adding, "What's Aunt Madilyn doing? We miss her too."

Roxanne and Lucian promised a visit the next day. Roxanne called Madilyn, who was delighted to hear the children missed her. Madilyn expressed her own longing for them.

After playing with the children, Roxanne went upstairs to bathe. Suddenly, Elias and Sonya arrived, immediately asking for Roxanne upon entering and seeing Lucian.

"Mom, Dad, what's wrong? You seem rushed," Lucian asked. "Roxanne's showering. I'll call her down."

Sonya, brows furrowed, exclaimed, "We're in a rush! Lucian, the geomancer chose a lucky date today, but we forgot the most important people—Roxanne's parents! We owe her family, and we need to rectify this. We're so careless!"

Lucian was stunned. Elias added, lamenting, "We completely forgot! We owe her family so much, yet we know so little about them."
