Chapter 1887: Dropping Out
Roxanne had one too many drinks the previous night, so Lucian carried her to their room. She struggled in his arms, insisting on showering before bed, then undressed and went to the bathroom alone. Worried she might fall, Lucian checked on her. In her dazed state, Roxanne unexpectedly initiated intimacy, clinging to him. Lucian, surprised but pleased, complied.
The next morning, Roxanne awoke with a splitting headache and aching body. "Looks like I had one too many last night and lost my memory," she mused. "Did I even get back to the room myself? How did I shower?" As she struggled to recall the previous night, Lucian entered with a glass of warm milk, a knowing smile on his face. While not their first intimate encounter, the previous night's events left Lucian wanting more; he hadn't expected such aggressive initiative from his wife.
Roxanne noticed his mischievous smile, got up, washed, and finished the milk. Still exhausted, she called Linda, informing her she wouldn't be going to the research institute. She fell back asleep, waking only in the afternoon. Regaining her consciousness, she checked her phone to find numerous messages from Linda. One read:
One of the largest distributors in Epea is eager to work with Flora Verba Group. They want to introduce Flora Verba Group's products into Epea's market! As of two in the afternoon, we've sold over seventy thousand units today. Our production rate is far from sufficient! A huge corporation in Hawen wants to discuss a partnership with us. Ms. Lane asked me to consult with you first!
Good news about Flora Verba Group's success continued to pour in. A smile spread across Roxanne's face. She instructed Linda to have Peregrine discuss the matters internally with the research institute before consulting Elektra and the marketing department.
Going downstairs, she found it unusually quiet; the children were still at school. Seeing his wife awake, Lucian had the chefs prepare a light meal.
"Is your head still hurting? You should stay home today. Everything's going smoothly! I've been keeping an eye on things for you," Lucian suggested with a smile.
Roxanne was soothed by his smile. After the meal, Lucian even ground coffee beans and made her a cup. Feeling refreshed, they went to collect the children from kindergarten.
However, the head of the kindergarten, Jeffrey, requested a meeting. Lucian and Roxanne initially feared their children had misbehaved.
"Oh, no! That's not it. Mr. Farwell, Ms. Jarvis, please don't misunderstand. The three children are exceptionally well-behaved," Jeffrey explained hastily. Pausing, he continued, "To be honest, I'm a little embarrassed to say this, but your children are truly outstanding. They're too advanced for kindergarten, perhaps even for elementary school. They're simply too bright."
Roxanne and Lucian exchanged glances. This was indeed a problem.
"Also," Jeffrey continued, "the other parents are feeling immense pressure. They're comparing their children to yours, impacting the children's mental well-being and hindering their learning." He acknowledged Archie, Benny, and Estella were blameless, but the pressure from other parents was affecting their peers.
Lucian and Roxanne acknowledged the issue.
