Chapter 19: A Passionate Kiss
The man's hot lips pressed against hers, their breaths mingling on their skin. Roxanne's mind went blank. She never imagined Lucian would go this far. He tightened his grip on her chin, trying to force her mouth open.
Roxanne snapped back to reality, struggling against him. "Let go of me, Lucian Farwell! Have you lost your mind? We're in a restaurant! Someone could walk in at any moment!"
Lucian pulled back slightly as she fought him. His frown deepened when he processed her words. "So what? Weren't you the one who said you would compensate me? I'm merely collecting what you owe me, and you're already afraid?"
Roxanne's eyes twitched. Disgust washed over her as she recalled the previous night. Perhaps because he'd been drugged, Lucian was barely aware of his actions. Still, his touch had been rough and instinctive. She remembered only the pain.
Now, his scent, mingled with the faint smell of alcohol, wafted towards her, and his words sent shivers down her spine. She began to shake.
Seeing her lack of response, Lucian's eyes darkened. He leaned in for another kiss, rougher than the first. Trapped in his grasp, panic swelled within her. Six years had passed, yet her body still reacted to him. The thought sobered her instantly. As he tried to deepen the kiss, she bit hard on his lip.
The metallic taste of blood filled their mouths. He froze, then kissed her with even greater intensity. She struggled for breath, her strength failing. Only his hand pressing down on hers prevented her from collapsing.
He finally stopped, his lips still on hers. "I thought you said you felt nothing for me," he murmured, his voice hoarse. "Why are you so weak? Roxanne, your body is far more honest than your mouth!"
Roxanne panted. Before she could reply, she felt his hand move towards her chest. With a surge of strength, she shoved him away and slapped him.
"Lucian, weren't you going to marry Aubree? I let you go. What are you doing now? Taking revenge? If so, you've succeeded! I was foolish to use such a drastic trick, but as you wished, I've stopped clinging to you. I won't appear in your life again. This is the end."
Roxanne glared at him and fled, never looking back.
Meanwhile, Cayden, having cleaned up the mess, arrived at their private room to guard the door for Lucian. He froze, then ran inside upon seeing Lucian's ex-wife rushing out. The room was dimly lit. Lucian stood in a corner, his head tilted, his cheek flushed, blood on his lip. He appeared furious.
"Mr. Farwell, are youโฆ okay?" Cayden asked cautiously, his heart pounding.
Lucian's expression was grim. He touched his cheek, then wiped his thumb across his lip. It came away wet. "That woman bites hard," he muttered, "as ruthless as ever. I'm fine."
He left the room. "Go on, Roxanne," he thought, "run back to Horington. Let's see where else you can run."
Outside, he saw the two men who had assaulted her still groaning on the floor. He coldly glanced at them, then turned to Cayden. "Break the hands they used to touch her."
Cayden immediately obeyed. Lucian left without another word.
