Chapter 1904: Spoil Him Just This Once

After hearing Estella had designed a fairytale wedding gown for Roxanne, Madilyn hurried over after work. Envy and jealousy filled her as she gazed at the dress.

“If we weren't best friends, I would've taken scissors and ripped your gown to shreds! How can it be so beautiful?”

Though Madilyn was Roxanne's best friend, her compliment was unusual.

Roxanne giggled, trying to reassure her. “When it's your turn, Estella's skills will be even better. I'll have her design one for you then!”

“True. As her godmother, I can't just have obligations and no rights,” Madilyn grinned, sighing inwardly at her friend's transformation.

“How is Mrs. Xander? Is she improving?” Roxanne asked.

“Yes! She's eating, sleeping well, even gained weight! Her mental state is much better. And she's decided to stay in Horington, not return to Xendale.”

Having saved Lorraine, Roxanne felt she'd also protected her best friend's well-being. Madilyn was slowly returning to her old self, her eyes sparkling with laughter.

“If she’s staying, you’ll need to find a man soon. How's it going? I heard Jonathan took time off. Did he look for you?” Roxanne asked, expecting a complaint.

Instead, Madilyn blushed, happiness evident in her eyes. “He’s been driving Mom around Horington. Actually, I came to ask for the rest of the month off. The wedding's days away, and I'll attend.”

Roxanne was surprised. “Wow, fast developments! You couldn't control yourself any longer!” she chuckled. “Sure. You're the director. Just make the arrangements. You don't even need to ask.”

Roxanne had never restricted Madilyn's time off; Madilyn herself always followed the rules, even working overtime. She knew the hospital's profits were slim after paying salaries. Recently, she'd developed an expensive medical plan targeting the wealthy. However, instead of profit, the hospital needed new equipment.

“I'll take three days to travel with Mom,” Madilyn declared proudly.

Roxanne immediately saw through her. “I think it’s for someone else. But that’s good! Seize the opportunity, make the first move. That's my Madilyn!”

They chatted for a while, smiles on their faces. Madilyn left after greeting Lucian upon his return. Roxanne told her husband about Jonathan, knowing his concern.

“That’s good. He’s been so busy. He deserves to relax! Madilyn's lovely, this is good for him.” Lucian was relieved.

“Oh, right. You’re picking someone up tonight? Who is it? Can’t Cayden do it?” Roxanne asked.

Lucian tilted his head. “James. We have a favor to ask. I’ll spoil him just this once.”
