Chapter 1915: Tears of Happiness
The joyous ambiance of a traditional wedding was unmatched by any modern ceremony. At half-past three in the morning, Roxanne, dressed in a classic wedding gown and wearing light makeup, waited eagerly for Lucian to lift her veil. The multi-story manor buzzed with the cheerful conversation and laughter of the Farwell family and their close relatives.
Three childrenโArchie, Benny, and Estella in their festive traditional attireโchatted excitedly before Roxanne. Estella, curious, asked, โMommy, your wedding gown is so pretty. Can I see your face?โ Archie quickly replied, โNo. Only Daddy can remove the veil.โ Benny added, โYeah! Traditional weddings have lots of rituals!โ Fascinated, the children examined the ceremonial items.
When the time came, female masters of ceremonies escorted Roxanne to the wedding carriage and then to the manor. Following a set schedule, they performed each ritual. Lucian greeted Roxanne at the manor's entrance. They exchanged rings, recited vows, and sealed their union with a kiss.
โLetโs have a toast!โ someone exclaimed. The masters of ceremonies then announced, โTime to lead the newlyweds to their room!โ Each ritual was met with blessings, cheers, and applause from the growing crowd of family and friends.
Noticing the veil, Lucian felt a surge of nervousness, despite having experienced a wedding before. Roxanne, though outwardly still, felt a deep anticipation; the lifting of the veil symbolized the beginning of their life together.
Lucian gently lifted the veil. Their eyes met, and both giggled bashfully. โWeโve finally completed the rituals!โ Lucian exclaimed, captivated by Roxanne's beauty. Tears welled in Roxanne's eyes. โYes! From now on, Iโll be your wife forever!โ she declared, falling into his embrace.
However, a modern wedding awaited in the afternoon, so their consummation would have to wait. Following instructions, the newlyweds remained in their room until Elias and Sonya, the family elders, completed the remaining ceremonies.
The banquet then began. A limited amount of alcohol was served to ensure guests could attend the afternoon's festivities. The newlyweds, their children, and grandparents sat at the head table with Jonathan, James, Madilyn, and Lorraine. A vacant seat held a braceletโa treasured gift from Roxanne's motherโsymbolizing her presence.
Roxanne looked at Madilyn, her in-laws, her husband, her children, and then at the bracelet. Tears of happiness streamed down her face.
