Roxanne lowered her fork at the thought of guidance from such prominent figures. After accepting the invitation, she expressed her gratitude. "Larry, thank you for your thoughtfulness. I'm truly looking forward to it!" She looked like a child who'd just received candy.

Larry's eyes sparkled. He rarely saw her so eager. "You're welcome. You left in a hurry after operating on a family elder, so I couldn't properly thank you. My family has been nagging me to treat you to a meal; they felt terrible about it. Consider this a token of my gratitude."

Roxanne anticipated the medical conference. Smiling nonchalantly, she replied, "I had to pick up my children. Besides, I only did what I could."

She then asked, concerned, "By the way, how is the elder doing? I didn't have time for a follow-up examination."

Larry replied, "He was transferred to the general ward the next day. He just needs to recover. It's all thanks to you."

Roxanne modestly smiled and changed the subject. "You're the one invited. Are you sure it's alright if I come along?"

Larry had achieved considerable success in the medical field. His family background, coupled with his accomplishments, made him highly regarded by medical experts; many publicly admired him. Roxanne, however, felt she was an unknown quantity to these experts. She worried her presence would lower the conference's standards.

Larry chuckled, understanding her apprehension. "You studied under Professor Lambert for years. Do you still consider yourself the same unknown person who went overseas? Those experts may not know your real name, but they know your aliasโ€”Janet."

Joy flashed in Roxanne's eyes. She giggled, rubbing her nose. So accustomed to humility, she'd almost forgotten Janet's international reputation.

"In that case, I'll accept," Roxanne chuckled, placing the invitation in her handbag.

Larry nodded. "It's meant for you."

"The invitation says the conference is tomorrow afternoon. What time should we leave?" Roxanne asked.

Seeing her excitement, Larry's joy intensified. "Tomorrow morning. We can rest upon arrival, ensuring we're on time and have time to chat with the leading medical figures."

Learning she'd have a chance to meet these prominent figures privately further piqued Roxanne's interest. She readily agreed, "Okay. I'll book the flights." Larry didn't object to such a small detail and smiled his agreement.

It was getting late, but Roxanne remained excited. Larry tapped the table helplessly. "You should eat more. You haven't eaten much."

Roxanne finally refocused. Glancing at the time, she took a few more bites before rising to leave. "I have afternoon work at the research institute. I'll let you know once I've booked the flights."

Larry readily agreed.

Roxanne had initially felt conflicted after encountering Lucian that morning, but those negative feelings subsided after learning about the conference. Despite a busy afternoon, she maintained a constant smile.
