Chapter 255: Leaving the Country After Divorce

Seeing no other alternative, Lucian nodded in agreement. Pippa then gathered the other parents and asked who would share their room with Lucian. Estella, holding Lucian's hand, glanced at Roxanne upon hearing Pippa's request. "I want to sleep with the beautiful Ms. Jarvis!" she declared. Given Lucian's identity and good looks, many parents quickly offered their rooms. Some women even rushed forward with their children.

Estella, however, paled at the sudden influx of strangers. Breaking free from Lucian, she ran into Roxanne, who was standing nearby. Looking up at Roxanne, Estella said, "Stay with Ms. Jarvis!"

Roxanne froze. While she wouldn't have refused Estella alone, the prospect of sharing a room with Lucian was daunting. Lucian, noticing Estella's distress, realized she only knew Roxanne among the parents. To prevent further fear, he decided to ask Roxanne for help. Uncertain of her response, Lucian smiled, nodded at the other parents, and approached Roxanne. He quietly asked, "Ms. Jarvis, would it be convenient for you to take Essie and me in?"

Roxanne, stunned, was surprised by his request. She hadn't expected him to take the initiative, and while she had no desire to share a room with Lucian, she worried about Estella. Estella's earlier fright had left her pale, and seeing Roxanne's hesitation, her eyes reddened. The parents Lucian had refused trailed behind him, their jealousy growing at his request and Roxanne's apparent reluctance.

"Essie likes you so much, Ms. Jarvis. How could you make a child so miserable?" one parent asked.

"Even if you're unwilling, be clear about it. We're happy to welcome Mr. Farwell and Essie!" another added.

Roxanne's expression darkened under their scrutiny. Lucian, however, swept an icy gaze over the speakers, silencing them instantly. Turning back to Roxanne, he explained, "Essie's condition is unique. She can't be with strangers. She rarely likes anyone as much as you, Ms. Jarvis, so I hope you'll agree for her sake."

Remembering Estella's earlier fright, and Lucian's explanation, Roxanne felt a pang of sympathy. Pippa also approached, distressed, offering Roxanne the larger room with twin beds.

Seeing Estella's pitiful state, Roxanne sighed, "Very well, then. Thank you, Ms."
