Cayden took some time to recover from the shock. Afterward, he immediately reported to Lucian.

Meanwhile, Lucian remained silent after ending his call with Cayden. Jonathan, no fool, quietly ate his now-cold food.

When Lucian's phone buzzed, Jonathan sharply turned his head. Lucian answered swiftly.

"Mr. Farwell, I have the findings," Cayden began cautiously.

"Who did this?" Lucian asked in a deep voice.

Cayden replied hesitantly, "It's Mrs. Farwell."

Lucian lowered his gaze, but his face remained impassive. He had suspected his mother's involvement since Jonathan had first informed him. Instructing Cayden to investigate was merely confirmation. "Understood," Lucian said expressionlessly, ending the call.

The room felt frigid.

Jonathan started to speak, but Lucian interrupted.

"When did you find out about this?"

Jonathan hesitated briefly before answering honestly, "Yesterday."

The room grew even colder.

Jonathan quickly explained, "Queen Group was also affected, so I was dealing with that. Also, I wasn't sure how to tell you, so I delayed until today. Don't worry; the herbs Queen Group supplied to Dr. Jarvis and the others should be sufficient."

Lucian lowered his gaze, suppressing his anger. He knew he was ultimately at fault. He was aware of his mother's dislike for Roxanne and had witnessed their confrontation at the cafรฉ. He should have anticipated his mother's actions and taken preventative measuresโ€”sending men to protect Roxanne and keep a close watch on both of them. However, he had been preoccupied with his company and, upon returning home, had remained constantly by Estella's side, neglecting Roxanne. Furthermore, he hadn't expected his mother to act so quickly.

"Also, I didn't realize you were unaware," Jonathan added softly.

He assumed Lucian knew, given Sonya's actions using Farwell Group resources. If not for Frieda's morning comments, Jonathan wouldn't have considered telling Lucian.

Lucian's expression darkened further. His mother must have known the Farwell Group's involvement and perhaps believed he was also aware. She'd already been avoiding him; now, he wondered what she thought of him. "I've been busy with the company," Lucian replied simply to Jonathan.

Jonathan nodded understandingly. Mrs. Farwell would have certainly concealed this from Lucian.

Feeling apologetic, Jonathan said, "I should have told you yesterday if I'd known you were unaware."

Lucian's expression remained unchanged. "Only the two of us will know about this; my mother won't learn you told me."

Lucian understood Jonathan's delay. Their families were close. Informing Lucian meant antagonizing his mother.

Jonathan frowned. "That's not the point. If I hadn't seen how you treated Dr. Jarvis, I wouldn't have come to tell you."
