Roxanne's hairstyle and makeup were remarkably simple, so the stylist finished quickly. She chose a dress and went to change, while the stylist waited outside the changing room.

When he saw Roxanne emerge, he was astonished. "Miss, the dress fits you perfectly!"

He'd been a stylist for years and rarely saw such a simple yet effective look chosen at Neon Boutique. Before applying makeup, he noted her natural prettiness. However, expecting a modest result from her simple choices, he was utterly captivated by her transformed appearance.

Her hair was simply pinned in a bun with a pearl hairpin, the rest cascading casually. Light makeup highlighted her features, enhanced by a touch of lip gloss. She wore a white evening gown that bared her shoulders, her flawless skin and alluring collarbone on display. She looked like an angel.

Were it not for Neon Boutique's clientele, he would have recommended she pursue a career in entertainment.

Roxanne smiled and replied, "Thank you." She checked her reflection, nodding in satisfaction. "This is good. It's not too fancy, but sufficient to show my appreciation for the invitation."

She thanked the stylist again before heading downstairs to pay.

Exiting Neon Boutique, Roxanne realized it was time for the banquet and started toward the curb to hail a taxi. Then she heard a voice.

"Goodbye, Mr. Farwell," the boutique's person-in-charge said politely, seeing Lucian out.

Lucian nodded before turning, and saw Roxanne by the roadside. He recognized her instantly.

Roxanne heard the exchange, her entire being instantly stiffening. She wanted to leave immediately.

Lucian's gaze darkened; he approached quickly. "What a coincidence, Ms. Jarvis!"

Roxanne stopped, dumbfounded. Such a coincidence? Why was Lucian here? Why was he addressing her after her previous words?

Lucian, too, was surprised. He hadn't realized she was downstairs while he was upstairs. He'd expected to see her only at the banquet. This unexpected encounter wasn't unpleasant.

Unfazed by Roxanne's silence, Lucian stood beside her, asking in a low voice, "You're all dressed up, Ms. Jarvis. Attending the banquet? Planning to hail a taxi in that attire?"

Roxanne frowned, stepping back slightly. "Thank you for your concern, Mr. Farwell. You must be busy. I shouldn't take up your time."

She turned to leave.

Lucian, catching a glimpse of her retreating figure, realized she was avoiding him. His gaze darkened; he reached out and grasped her wrist.

Roxanne stopped and turned, giving him a wary look.

Lucian stated authoritatively, "I'll send you."
