Once Joseph and the crowd scurried away, only Lucian and Roxanne remained in the corridor. Roxanne's wrist was still in Lucian's grip.

Realizing he wasn't releasing her, Roxanne remained calm. "Everyone's gone," she said. "You can let go of me now, Mr. Farwell. I won't run away." Lucian stared at her for a few seconds before slowly releasing his grip.

Roxanne rubbed her aching wrist, took two steps back, and looked up at him. "Is there anything else, Mr. Farwell?"

Lucian frowned. He had saved her, yet she hadn't thanked him. Instead, she'd asked if there was anything else.

"I helped you, and this is your attitude?" Lucian's tone was cold.

Roxanne's lips curled. "Help? If you truly wanted to help, you wouldn't have said those things to Joseph. You're using me for your own benefit. There's no need to sugarcoat your actions."

The air crackled with tension. Lucian's eyes burned with rage. However, recalling his impulsive words, he couldn't justify himself.

After a long silence, Roxanne took his lack of response as agreement. A wry smile touched her face as she nodded. "Seems like you've had your fun, Mr. Farwell. I think I should leave now."

She turned to go.

Lucian's low voice stopped her. "Where's Morrison?"

Roxanne stopped, confused. "What?"

"Didn't you compromise with me to meet him? Why didn't he come to save you earlier?" Lucian narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing her.

Roxanne realized he meant Larry. What did this have to do with Larry?

Noticing her confusion, Lucian explained, "You arrived at the banquet with me, then left with Mr. Morrison. I heard Mr. Ziegler has been introducing you to others as well. In a short time, you've been with three different men. You're quite popular, Ms. Jarvis."

He scanned her from head to toe. "Oh, right. And that man just now. Your popularity exceeds my expectations."

Knowing Lucian deliberately mentioned Joseph to annoy her, Roxanne's expression darkened. "You were spying on me?"

She'd only been with Larry for a few minutes. Lucian should have been socializing with other clients; there was no way he could have noticed themโ€”unless those clients didn't exist. This made her suspicious.

"You're a woman who stands out, Ms. Jarvis. Coupled with appearing at the banquet with me, people will talk. Did I need to spy? Or did you think you were so important I'd send someone to spy on you, Ms. Jarvis?" Lucian scoffed.

His words implied she was deluding herself.

Roxanne's eyes twitched; self-deprecation washed over her. He was right. Considering her relationship with Lucian, she wasn't important enough to be spied on. He probably saw her with Larry by accident. Moreover, arriving at the banquet with Lucian had created a commotion; his theory wasn't impossible.

Roxanne calmed down. Casting her gaze downward, she said emotionlessly, "If that's the case, I've wronged you, Mr. Farwell. However, considering how you treated me earlier, I think we're even now."
