Chapter 436

After hearing Jonathan's explanation, Lucian's expression softened. He understood Roxanne's dedication to traditional medicine; an opportunity to collaborate with the Damaris family would be incredibly appealing. "What do you think of my idea?" Jonathan asked, a proud smile on his face.

Lucian smiled subtly. "Not bad. If you can persuade her to stay, I owe you one." Farwell Group lacked significant connections with the Damaris family, limiting Lucian's influence. Even if he secured the opportunity, Roxanne might refuse if he presented it. Jonathan, however, presented a more promising avenue.

Jonathan smirked. "My payment? A generous wedding gift."

He left before Lucian could respond, heading directly to the Queen residence. He believed Alfred would be a more persuasive messenger than himself. Alfred's endorsement would make the opportunity seem less contrived.

Finding Alfred exercising, Jonathan announced his return. "Grandpa, I need to discuss something."

Alfred nodded.

"It's about the Damaris family's medical consultation. Could you speak to them about Dr. Jarvis' participation?" Jonathan asked.

Alfred, well-acquainted with the Damaris family and their respect for traditional medicine, readily agreed. He'd planned to introduce Roxanne even without Jonathan's request. He had never encountered anyone as accomplished in traditional medicine as Roxanne, at such a young age. The opportunity was too valuable to miss.

Jonathan, relieved, cautiously broached the subject of the research institute partnership. Alfred's perceptive gaze immediately revealed his insight. "Do you have feelings for Dr. Jarvis?"

Jonathan, speechless, could only offer a silent denial. He admired Roxanne, but she was Lucian's interest. He wouldn't betray their friendship.

Alfred, understanding his grandson's confusion, chuckled. "Okay. The Damaris family will have the final say. I have little influence. Don't be disappointed if they choose Dr. Jarvis' institute over ours."

Alfred's relaxed demeanor put Jonathan at ease. "Dr. Jarvis is a formidable competitor," Alfred said. "If they deem her a better fit, that's their prerogative. No disappointments here."

Jonathan, relieved, asked for Alfred's help informing Roxanne. Alfred readily agreed.
