Chapter 481
Jack relented, instructing, "Tell them to bring it in, then."
The staff member obeyed, turning and leaving.
Jack then went to check the goods, calling Roxanne and Larry to accompany him. Soon, a delivery truck, followed by three ambulances, arrived at the compound.
Rex, jumping down from the truck, greeted the three respectfully. Jack and Larry met him for the first time, but Roxanne's familiarity was evident. They glanced at her, prompting her to speak.
Roxanne nodded politely at Rex, asking, "Mr. Tanner, this is...?"
Rex smiled. "Mr. Queen, seeing the orphanage children's plight and knowing the Damaris family's free consultations, sent supplies. It's not muchโclothes, bedding, and so on. He said you didn't need medical supplies, so he sent daily necessities instead."
Jack nodded and asked the orphanage director to inspect the items. The Damaris family, only providing free medical consultations, hadn't considered such necessities.
Roxanne noticed the ambulances. "What about those?"
Rex explained, "The Queen family's private hospital owns them. Mr. Queen said your facilities might be insufficient. Children needing care can be treated there, free of charge."
The three nodded, though with some misgivings.
Jack knew little of Roxanne's personal life beyond Alfred's admiration. Jonathan's actions naturally raised suspicions about his relationship with her. Larry, familiar with Roxanne's past, also wondered about their connection, given Jonathan's consideration.
Unaware of their thoughts, Roxanne, though finding Jonathan's actions unusual, smiled and thanked Rex. "That's very kind of Mr. Queen. Thank you for the trip. We thank you all on behalf of the children."
Rex waved his hand. "My duty. No problem. I'll convey your thanks."
Roxanne smiled. The director hurried over, thanking Rex for the ample supplies.
After confirming the sufficiency of the goods, Rex departed. Roxanne and the others returned to their cubicle.
Children clustered around Daniel, some playfully mimicking his pulse-taking. Noticing the adults, they resumed their positions.
Roxanne apologized. "Sorry for the wait."
The children shook their heads. "It was short. You work hard; take a break."
Roxanne's heart warmed at their well-behaved nature.
"What did the Queen family send?" Daniel asked, curious about the absence of any immediate delivery.
The three explained. Daniel nodded, puzzled by the Queen family's kindness, linking it to Roxanne's recommendation.
Roxanne, oblivious to their speculations, focused on treating the children.
