While having dinner, Roxanne realized Lysa had seated Lucian directly in front of her. Roxanne felt extremely uncomfortable throughout the meal, as Lucian's gaze occasionally fell upon her. Finally, dinner ended. Lysa cleaned up while Roxanne and the others moved to the living room to rehearse their stage play.
Although roles were undecided, Lucian and Roxanne were obvious choices for the prince and princess because of the kissing scene. The children stared blankly, unsure of their parts. After reviewing the script, Roxanne thoughtfully suggested, "Essie can play the witch." Estella nodded obediently.
"What about us, Mommy?" Archie and Benny asked simultaneously, their eyes bright with anticipation. They hadn't found suitable roles in Sleeping Beauty. Roxanne chuckled, "Hmm... You two can be the fairies!"
Archie and Benny's eyes widened in shock. "But we're boys!" Roxanne laughed at their reaction. "All right, let's change the story slightly. You two can beโฆ fairy godfathers!"
Relieved, Archie and Benny accepted their roles. Having assigned the children's parts, Roxanne looked at Lucian, who stood beside her, staring coldly. Her smile faded. "It seems we'll have extra roles," she said. "We'll be the prince and princess, and also the king and queen."
Lucian readily agreed, much to Roxanne's relief. "Here's the script. Read your lines and try to memorize them," she said, handing the children her phone. They huddled together, reading the script.
Turning to Lucian, Roxanne said, "We should go through the script as well. Could you find one on your phone, Mr. Farwell?" He immediately produced his phone and searched. As Roxanne leaned closer, their proximity allowed them to hear each other breathe. Despite focusing on the script, she found herself distracted by him. Lucian remained calm and focused. Roxanne blushed furiously, barely remembering anything after completing the script.
Lucian's voice broke through her daze. "Do you want to read it again?" Roxanne shook her head, stepping away. "No, I'm good. You can reread it if you need to, Mr. Farwell." Lucian raised an eyebrow, amused by her reddened face.
Roxanne silently breathed a sigh of relief, knowing he had already reviewed the script and that his role involved minimal lines.
"We're done, Mommy! Can we rehearse now?" the children asked excitedly. Roxanne nodded absently, glancing instinctively at Lucian. He put away his phone and nodded in response, indicating his readiness.
