After lunch, the children clamored to go out and play. Roxanne, knowing the hotel room would bore them, readily agreed to take them out. Their resort was renowned in Horington. Passing the front desk, she remembered to grab a travel booklet. The children jostled to see it. Roxanne handed it over, letting them choose their destination.
"Let's visit the marine park!" one child declared.
The children were still considering their options when Lucian's deep voice surprised them. It was his first utterance since morning, a suggestion of where to go. Roxanne, momentarily stunned, eyed him quizzically. Meeting her gaze, he said casually, "I've been here before. The marine park is a good place for them. Don't they like looking at fish?" Roxanne was taken aback. He must have noticed the children admiring the fish tank that morning when he reserved their room.
Lucian looked down at the children, silently waiting for their decision. They flipped through the booklet, finally landing on the marine park's information. After a brief discussion, they agreed. "Let's visit the marine park, then!"
Roxanne readily agreed and took the children to the marine park. Since the resort bordered the beach, the marine park was immense, boasting a vast collection of fish. The children, captivated by bright colors, were utterly mesmerized by the fish in the viewing area, reluctant to leave. Estella's eyes shone as she watched beluga whales swimming. Touching the glass, hoping to connect with the elegant creatures, she was astonished when they swam to her side, as if sensing her intent. Three beluga whales suddenly swam before her. Her eyes widened, and she pressed her face against the glass. Then, a beluga whale kissed her cheek through the glass. Roxanne quickly snapped a photo, smiling at Estella. Lucian's heart warmed at their expressions.
Benny, fascinated by Estella's interaction, finally looked away. A shark, its jaw wide open, swam toward him. Benny screamed, whirling around and hiding behind Lucian, clutching his shirt. Lucian's heart leaped at Benny's cry. Seeing the terrified child running toward him, amusement flickered in Lucian's eyes, but he remained silent, allowing Benny to use him as a shield. Once Benny calmed down, he realized his position, seemingly hearing Lucian chuckle. His cheeks flushed, he quickly released his grip and walked away, pretending nothing had happened.
