Elise didn't pursue the matter. Since Estella wanted to learn the two words, he decided to teach her.

They had the housekeeper bring a pencil and paper and began practicing writing at the dining table.

Seeing his father attending to Estella, Lucian excused himself and went upstairs to his study.

Meanwhile, Aubree seethed. She noticed Estella was distancing herself, even rebuffing her in front of the Farwells. If this continued, the Farwells would surely notice something amiss. She needed an opportunity to teach Estella a lesson.

Because of Estella's sudden visit, it was almost ten o'clock when Roxanne arrived at the research institute with Archie and Benny. After settling them in her office, she immediately began working.

Colby, whose proposed data hadn't been processed, sought her out upon learning of her arrival. They worked diligently together until it was time to leave.

Stretching, Roxanne saw her sons working on their laptops. "Archie, Benny, it's time to go home," she said gently.

They looked up, nodded, closed their laptops, and stood.

Colby checked the time and smiled. "It's dinner time. You've been a great help. Let me treat you and the kids to a meal."

Roxanne was surprised. She consulted her sons.

They exchanged a look. "Mr. Galloway wants to pursue Mommy," Archie stated clearly. Having observed him all day, they found Colby outstanding. He had common interests with Roxanne professionally, and his appearance was acceptable.

However, they only pictured their father when imagining a man with their mother. It was strange. They had never seen their parents together, yet instinctively felt their father was the only one worthy of their mother. Therefore, they decided to discourage Colby.

"Thank you, Mr. Galloway, but Mommy has a date tonight," Archie politely declined.

Colby looked at Roxanne, puzzled, as she hadn't mentioned a date.

Roxanne, unable to understand her sons' lie, played along. "I have a dinner date with a friend. I'll take a rain check."

Colby smiled warmly. "I was so engrossed in work, I forgot to ask about your plans. I'll be going then." He bid them farewell and left.

Outside the institute, Roxanne questioned her sons, eyebrows slightly furrowed. "Why did you lie? Don't you like Mr. Galloway?"

They solemnly shook their heads. "We were helping you refuse a suitor."

Roxanne was amused and exasperated by their earnestness. "Regardless, you can't lie."

The boys nodded. Benny grinned and leaned close. "Mr. Galloway is nice, but you can take your time, Mommy. No rush. We're not in a hurry for a dad."

Roxanne laughed. "Choose? Like choosing groceries?"
