Chapter 701: Her Relationship With Lucian
"I think I have Dr. Jarvis's contact, too. If you can't do it, I can," Hector said faintly.
Jack looked utterly helpless. He knew Hector was threatening him. Rather than risk Roxanne and Jessica meeting without him, he decided to be present to keep Jessica in check.
He finally agreed. "All right. I'll try to contact Ms. Jarvis, but I can't promise she'll agree."
Stephen smiled widely. "Thank you. Let me know when she gets back to you." Jack nodded indifferently.
Stephen chatted with Hector for a while, inquiring about the Damaris family's situation, before excusing himself. The moment he left the Damaris residence, his smile vanished, replaced by dejection.
That night, Jessica arrived home intoxicated, carried by several men. Stephen was shocked, fearing she had been taken advantage of. To his surprise, the men identified themselves as employees of the Farwell family, sent by Lucian to return her.
Stephen immediately understood his daughter had crossed someone powerful. Sure enough, the Hightower family's business partners began canceling contracts, and new projects stalled due to a lack of collaborators.
Faced with the company's financial difficulties, Stephen contacted Lucian, apologizing profusely. Lucian, however, informed him he owed an apology to someone else.
Confused, Stephen interrogated Jessica, finally learning the identity of the person he needed to appease. Unable to approach this person directly, he decided to use Jack as an intermediary. He strategically mentioned his deceased father to manipulate Hector's sympathy and secure his support. This tactic worked, leading to a meeting with Roxanne.
What is her relationship with Lucian? Why is he willing to go to such lengths for her?
Meanwhile, Lucian, having finished his work, thought of the three children at Roxanne's house. She must be home making lunch for them, he reasoned, and drove to her residence.
The children had just devoured a bucket of fried chicken when the doorbell rang. Assuming it was Roxanne, they opened the door without checking the intercom. They were startled by the sight of Lucian.
"Daddy!" Estella exclaimed, running towards him, reaching for his leg. Lucian noticed her oily hands, covered in grease from disposable gloves. She instinctively recoiled, withdrawing her hand.
It was the first time Estella had been rejected by Lucian. Her eyes widened in confusion. Lucian frowned, observing the children's greasy lips. What had they eaten?
