Chapter 802: Slip Out of the Room

At the sight of Roxanne's pale face, Lucian leaned in, frowning. "How are you feeling? Any better?"

In her weakened state, Roxanne couldn't hear him. After vomiting, she collapsed onto the bed, mumbling, "Ugh, terrible..."

Lucian's heart ached. He removed her vomit-stained shirt, washed his hands, and poured her a cup of water to gargle.

Returning to the room, he found Roxanne standing, disrobing as if alone. She mumbled, "I... want to shower."

The sight startled Lucian. He hurried to her, restraining her. "Stop taking off your clothes."

Annoyed, Roxanne glared. "I want to shower! Move!" She began unfastening her bra.

Lucian quickly averted his gaze, stunned. When he looked again, Roxanne had stumbled to the bathroom door, her figure fully revealed.

Stupefied, he could only stare. Her form, even more alluring than six years prior, captivated him.

Drunken Roxanne forgot to close the bathroom door. She showered, oblivious.

From the bedroom, Lucian watched with dark eyes. Seeing her continued unawareness, he sighed, closed the bathroom door, and cleaned the room.

Roxanne was still showering when he finished. Frowning at the vomit on his shirt, Lucian left to clean himself.

He'd barely left when Roxanne emerged, her senses mostly returned by the shower. The changed bedsheets dazed her, but the irritation in her throat reminded her of vomiting. Yet, the room was spotless.

In her groggy state, Lucian's face appeared in her mind. She seemed to recall his voice while drunk. Had he helped her...?

Roxanne shook her head violently, dismissing the thought. No way. He wouldn't have cared for her like that, let alone changed the sheets! He probably wouldn't even change his own.

She rejected the idea, but still couldn't explain her care. Finally giving up, she felt the lingering effects of the alcohol. Sleep was all she desired.

Drowsiness overwhelming her, Roxanne switched off the lights and went to bed.

Lucian, emerging from the bathroom, saw the darkened room. Concerned, he checked on her. Finding her soundly asleep, he quietly slipped away.
