Chapter 808: The One Bothering Him

Lucian frowned at his best friend's words. Jonathan urged anxiously, "Our project is gaining momentum, and Herbscape Group is crucial. If we can't acquire them, we'll have to withdraw and wait for another opportunity."

This was Jonathan's attempt at questioning Lucian. Queen Group might give up, but Farwell Group never backed down. In Horington, they always got their way; numerous companies sought collaboration. Yet, unexpectedly, Herbscape Group not only dared to negotiate but also canceled the contract at the last minute. With any other company, Lucian would have retaliated swiftly. Instead, he seemed prepared to accept the loss without reprisal.

Frustrated, Jonathan pressed, "Lucian, what's bothering you? Why not put Herbscape Group in their place? What's been worrying you? I heardโ€”"

Lucian interrupted, "Jack, the Damaris heir, is no fool. If even you recognize Herbscape Group's value, why would he relinquish it for short-term profit?"

Jonathan found Lucian's words unsettling. Even I? Did Lucian consider him inferior to Jack? Rage flared. "So what if he's insightful? Queen Group is Horington's largest pharmaceutical company. Without us, Queen Group would have secured the contract." Jack, if truly clever, would have partnered with Queen Group.

Lucian, sensing his friend's outburst, explained mercilessly, "Precisely because Jack is shrewd, he avoided Queen Group. Queen Group's influence likely meant demanding a lion's share of profits, making negotiations with Damaris Group difficult. Herbscape Group, conversely, would be desperate for the partnership and make significant concessions."

Jonathan calmed down, sighing at his own foolish comment. "It's true, I considered Herbscape Group for the same reason. They possess a major advantage over Queen Group."

Lucian looked puzzled.

Jonathan explained steadily, "Herbscape Group excels in both traditional and modern medicine. Queen Group focuses solely on traditional medicine, explaining Damaris Group's choice."

The remaining mystery was Damaris Group's offer to Herbscape Group that prompted them to break their contract with Farwell Group. Despite his research, Lucian was unaware of Jonathan's reasoning for selecting Herbscape Group. Realizing the importance of acquiring Herbscape Group, Lucian frowned.

"Now that Herbscape Group and Damaris Group have partnered, we should reconsider our acquisition strategy." A short-term solution seemed impossible. Moreover, this wasn't even his primary concern.
