Chapter 847: She Already Apologized
A moment of silence fell over the room. Seeing Catalinaโs expression, Lucian instinctively turned. His heart leaped at Estellaโs precarious state. He swiftly caught her. โBe careful,โ he said.
Catalina breathed a sigh of relief. Though Estella was only inches from the floor, her small, fragile frame made the near-fall dangerous. Estella, hurrying to catch Lucian, hadn't watched her steps. The sudden loss of footing had terrified her silent.
Even though Lucian had caught her, Estella felt increasingly aggrieved. โWhy didnโt you wait for me, Daddy?โ she thought. Looking up at him with a pout, she grumbled, โYou were walking too fast.โ
Lucian frowned. He knew she blamed him for the near-accident. Meeting her gaze, he said helplessly, โEssie, I told you Iโm very busy these days.โ He mused, Sheโs so stubborn; sheโs doing this for Roxanne.
Estellaโs distress deepened. โI almost tripped, but you wonโt listen! If this continues, when will you and Ms. Jarvis be together?โ
Lucian sighed inwardly at her pitiful expression. He couldn't resist giving in. โOkay, Iโll listen, but only for three minutes. I have to leave afterward.โ
Estellaโs eyes brightened. She nodded obediently. โWere you angry at Ms. Jarvis last night?โ
Lucian nodded. His fury from the previous night was evident; even denial wouldn't be believable.
Puffing her cheeks, Estella said adorably, โDaddy, can you forgive Ms. Jarvis? She already apologized to me last night!โ
Lucian raised an eyebrow. What logic is that? Why should I forgive Roxanne just because she apologized to Essie? He was angry about Roxanne's treatment of Estella, but her attitude toward him also fueled his anger.
Undeterred, Estella insisted, โMs. Jarvis knows she was wrong. If you donโt forgive her, Iโll be sad!โ
Lucian, resigned, scrunched his eyebrows. โAll right, Iโll forgive her.โ He knew Estella wouldn't let it go.
Even then, Estella stared doubtfully for a moment. Lucian, cutting her off, set her down. โTimeโs up. I have to go to work. Be good.โ
Noticing his haste, Estella felt agitated. She wanted to stop him, but Lucian stroked her head and turned away, reminding Catalina to care for Estella before leaving.
