Chapter 855: He Did Not Want To Lie
Estellaโs mood soured when Catalina didnโt immediately respond. A few minutes later, Catalina explained, โMr. Farwell is very busy. He instructed me to ensure you remain at home. If you wish to go anywhere, you must ask him upon his return.โ
The thought of her father made Estella turn away in frustration. Catalina sighed and called Lucian.
Lucian was in a meeting when his phone vibrated. Seeing Catalinaโs name, he hesitated before leaving the room to answer. โWhat is it?โ
Catalina glanced at the still-upset Estella. โMs. Estella has been sulking since morning, Mr. Farwell, and hasnโt touched her breakfast.โ
Hearing Catalina speak to her father, Estella turned and stared at the phone. She wanted to speak to him too. Noticing this, Catalina handed her the phone.
Lucian was about to inquire about the reason for the call when he heard his daughterโs voice. โDaddy, I want to play with Archie and Benny.โ Estellaโs voice reflected her sullen mood.
Remembering Estellaโs anxious and sad expression that morning, Lucianโs heart softened. Yet, the memory of Roxanneโs ruthlessness caused him to frown. โMs. Jarvis is very busy, so be a good girl and stay home, okay? Donโt cause Ms. Jarvis trouble.โ
Estella harrumphed. Lucian rubbed his temples, feeling a throbbing headache. โBe good. Iโll take you to the amusement park after work.โ
โNo!โ Estella pouted. โI want to play with Archie and Benny!โ
Lucian looked toward the conference room and coaxed, โI still have work. Weโll discuss this tonight.โ
Naturally, Estella didnโt take his words seriously after last nightโs incident. She not only defied him but also shifted the topic, worsening his headache.
โYou said you were going to make Ms. Jarvis my mommy. Why wonโt you let me go play at her house? Youโre just angry at her!โ
Estella brought up the issue sheโd raised that morning. Lucian merely frowned, remaining silent. He was dissatisfied with Roxanne, but if Estella learned of it, she would surely blame him. Yet, he didnโt want to lie to her.
Estella knew her fatherโs character. She sniffled, her eyes reddening. Hearing her sniffle, Lucian said resignedly, โIโll help you find a mommy. It may not be Ms. Jarvis, but Iโm sure youโll like her.โ
โNo!โ Tears streamed down Estellaโs cheeks as she sobbed, โI want Ms. Jarvis! Only her! Bad Daddy!โ
Catalina hadnโt expected the phone call to trigger such a reaction. She hurried to comfort Estella. โWhatโs wrong, Ms. Estella?โ But her soothing words were lost as Estella cried harder.
Lucianโs brow furrowed at the commotion. โCatalina, please care for Estella. Iโll be right back.โ
โOkay.โ
After hanging up, Lucian returned to the conference room, ceded his position as chairperson to his vice president, and raced back to the Farwell residence.
