Listen to this chapter:

By the time the treatment ended, Frieda had returned home. Learning from the butler that Roxanne was treating Alfred, she went directly to his bedroom.

"Grandpa, how are you feeling?" Frieda asked concernedly upon entering.

Alfred nodded slightly. "Much better." Having lived a long life, he understood traditional medicine and had consulted numerous renowned doctors. However, Roxanne was a delightful surprise. After each of her treatments, he felt a significant improvementโ€”something even the world's best doctors couldn't achieve.

Frieda examined her grandfather and smiled. "That's good to hear." Turning to Aubree, she added, "Have you come to visit Grandpa, too? Since it's getting late, why don't you stay for dinner?"

Aubree readily agreed, grinning broadly. "In that case, I wouldn't dream of refusing, Old Mr. Queen."

Alfred chuckled and nodded.

With Frieda home, Roxanne began packing, wanting to avoid further interaction with the women. Just then, Alfred smiled and said, "Dr. Jarvis, why don't you stay for dinner? I'd like to thank you properly. Invite Lucian, too. It would be wonderful to celebrate my recovery. It's been too long since I've had some fun."

Jonathan immediately left to call Lucian. This, however, made Roxanne's heart skip a beat. After packing her medical bag, she stood and said farewell. "Since it's a family dinner, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to stay. If you must thank me, we can find another time, Old Mr. Queen."

Although Roxanne had met Lucian many times since returning from overseas and knew of his relationship with Aubree, she intensely disliked the thought of seeing them together. The image alone made her uneasy. Her haste to leave was understandable.

Frieda quickly grasped Roxanne's reluctance. "But you're my grandfather's lifesaver, Dr. Jarvis. Let's dispense with formalities," Frieda said with a sardonic smile. "This is Grandpa's way of showing his appreciation. Join us if you're free."

Roxanne's brow furrowed, sensing Frieda's mischievous intent.

Jonathan, having just hung up the phone, overheard Frieda. Assuming his sister was being hospitable, he added, "Lucian will be here soon. You've met him. He'd appreciate updates on Grandpa's recovery, so it would be helpful if you stayed to answer his questions."

Unable to refuse, Roxanne agreed.

Frieda linked arms with Aubree, giving Roxanne a mocking glance. Well, well, well. The doctor actually stayed.

Frieda had only invited Roxanne to stay because Alfred had invited Lucian; she wanted to tease the doctor. Given Roxanne's feelings for Lucian, it will be interesting to see her reaction to him with other women. I can hardly wait!
