Chapter 915: Generous Man
Jonathan readily accepted Dean's call. Lucian having already discussed the acquisition with Dean, Jonathan easily negotiated a priceโa third of the originalโwhich Dean, silently mourning the loss, reluctantly accepted. He'd anticipated a low offer from Farwell and Queen Groups, but this was beyond his expectations. Nevertheless, he submitted to fate.
After finalizing the price, Dean informed Jack. Though far from ideal, Jack knew he couldn't negotiate a better deal and awaited the equity transfer following the investigation.
Two days later, the Herbscape Group investigation concluded. Executives were arrested, and charges filed. Jonathan arrived early for the equity transfer, joined later by Lucian. Most executives were already in police custody when Lucian arrived; Dean remained, signing papers with trembling hands.
Seeing Lucian, Jonathan gleefully waved the documents. "It's a success!"
Lucian inclined his head. "How much?"
He'd left the matter entirely to Jonathan. Jonathan's jubilance confirmed Lucian's suspicion of a low purchase price.
"A third of the original," Jonathan chuckled, then turned to the gloomy Dean. "He only has himself to blame for his blindness. This is his lesson." It was a harsh lesson, delivered without remorse.
Lucian nodded; the price met his expectations.
"Mr. Farwell..." Dean began, approaching Lucian.
Lucian merely glanced at him.
Dean pressed on, "Thank you for your mercy. Herbscape Group will follow your every order. We will never disobey!" He anxiously watched Lucian's reaction.
Lucian remained impassive, briefly glancing at departing police cars. Had Dean not been so intimately familiar with Herbscape Group, he would have joined the others. Dean, seeing Lucian's gaze, shuddered, clamping his mouth shut, fearing Lucian's regret.
Lucian ignored him. After completing the transfer, he left with Jonathan.
Seeing the twelve billion figure in Herbscape Group's financial statement, Jonathan sighed. "Tsk, Jack even spent that much. What a generous man."
Lucian glanced at the statement, a sardonic grin spreading across his face. Jack's efforts to save Herbscape Group had been in vain, his investment wasted.
"Well, he had it coming," Jonathan mocked. "How dare he try to steal that person from us? He should have looked in the mirror." His gaze lingered on Lucian. They both knew whom he meant. The woman's mention darkened Lucian's eyes.
