Chapter 924: Preparations
Roxanne led Archie and Benny back into the living room after Lucian's departure. Both boys wore concerned expressions. Benny, never one to hide his feelings, immediately asked, "Mommy, what did you say to Mr. Farwell?"
Roxanne's eyes darkened as she lowered her gaze. Archie and Benny stared, as if sensing her deception. She sighed, replying evasively, "We talked about work."
Benny persisted, "But you seemed really upset, Mommy." They'd never seen her react like this to work matters before. Archie and Benny exchanged confused glances. What had Lucian done to make her so wary?
Knowing a simple explanation wouldn't suffice, Roxanne said, "Mr. Farwell wanted to work with me, but I refused."
Their brows furrowed, they wanted to press further, but Roxanne deflected, "Work conflicts are inevitable. Don't worry." It echoed Lucian's words to Estella.
While they may not have believed her, the boys acknowledged the truth in her statement. Still, they couldn't shake the feeling it was more than just work. Seeing her reluctance to elaborate, they remained quiet.
Roxanne patted their heads, changing the subject. "We're camping tomorrow, but haven't prepared much. Let's get ready!"
The mention of their camping trip immediately captured their attention. They hadn't camped since returning from abroad, and with Estella joining them, they were thrilled.
After Roxanne took them upstairs, they began packing. Having camped extensively abroad, they knew what to bring. Soon, they were finished.
However, Roxanne felt something was missing. "I wonder if Essie prepared everything yet..." Archie murmured.
This sparked a realization. "This is Estella's first camping trip. Lucian probably doesn't know much about camping. I should prepare extra for her."
Roxanne unpacked some items, creating space. "Mommy?" Benny asked, puzzled.
Roxanne smiled. "Let's pack some things for Essie, too."
Archie and Benny readily agreed, packing snacks and toys Estella enjoyed. Once the extra space was filled, Roxanne felt satisfied. With Lysa's help, she loaded everything into the car before urging the boys to rest.
