Chapter 931: Cute Essie
By the time they finished setting up, some time remained before noon. Roxanne took the children to a nearby area to play, having prepared numerous toys, especially for Estella. Unsure of Estella's outdoor toy preferences, she'd brought a variety. Before leaving the tents, each child chose a favorite. Archie and Benny selected water guns and cameras; Estella, after careful consideration, chose a drawing board.
Roxanne chuckled at their choices and led them away. The further they walked, the more diverse the flora became. Thanks to Roxanne's influence, the children paid close attention to the wildflowers. They frequently asked about the plants' names and uses, finding their cameras unexpectedly helpful. Roxanne, knowledgeable about the medicinal properties of many plants, patiently answered their questions.
Estella, however, remained quieter than her brothers. Instead of asking questions, she quietly drew on her board. Noticing Estella's unusual silence, Roxanne suspected she felt awkward. Stopping, she asked, "Are you having fun, Essie? I can take you back to the tent if you're tired."
The boys, too, looked concerned, thinking her silence stemmed from unfamiliarity with the surroundings. To their surprise, Estella immediately showed them her drawing board. Her brushstrokes were childish, but the drawing clearly depicted the plants Roxanne had described.
"I think it's fun!" Estella exclaimed, her eyes shining. She loved the plants and was impressed by Roxanne's knowledge.
Relieved, Roxanne patted Estella's head and led them to sit in a field of flowers. While introducing the flowers to Archie and Benny, she casually picked some, occasionally glancing at Estella. Soon, she'd fashioned a delicate wreath. Estella, engrossed in her drawing, didn't notice. The boys, however, were amazed by the wreath. Though Roxanne had made them wreaths abroad, these flowers were far more beautiful.
Before they could comment, Roxanne placed a finger to her lips, silencing them with a smile. They watched as she gently placed the wreath on Estella's head.
"Ah!" Estella exclaimed, startled. Seeing Roxanne and the boys staring, she became even more confused. In her white dress, with her two braids and cute features, the wreath transformed her into a storybook fairy, gazing at them innocently.
Archie, captivated by her cuteness, quickly snapped a picture. Estella, bewildered, touched the wreath atop her head.
