Chapter 935: Enjoying Themselves to the Fullest
Aubree grew impatient. The group of four hadn't returned to their tent. She texted the private detective: "Where are you?" Logically, he should have arrived first, but she hadn't seen him. "Where on earth did he go? What a useless man!" she muttered, frowning.
Her phone buzzed. The detective replied: "Look up."
Aubree looked up. Nearby leaves rustled. Then, a camera flash. She frowned and replied, "Keep a close eye on them! Take pictures if anything strange happens and send them to me."
The detective confirmed. Aubree glanced at Roxanne and her children before driving away. She longed to witness their suffering firsthand, but the location was too conspicuous. Staying risked discovery and greater losses. Thankfully, the detective would capture their pain for her.
The thought of Roxanne and the children's reaction to the water filled Aubree with elation. She'd had a new bacterium procuredโone with no known cureโto teach Roxanne a lesson. While it wouldn't kill them, it would inflict extreme pain. This wasn't enough to satisfy her hatred, but it would suffice.
"I'd like to see how you'll save them this time!" she hissed, an insidious glint in her eyes. "As long as she drinks that water, that wretched woman will have trouble saving herself!"
Meanwhile, Roxanne remained unaware. Her children were enjoying themselves immensely. Initially, Archie and Benny teamed up against Estella, splashing her. After Roxanne left, their alliance crumbled. They split into three factions, playfully drenching each other. Some water splashed Roxanne, offering a pleasant coolness. It was a rare display of childlike joy, so she let them play.
Estella, influenced by her brothers, cautiously approached the stream. Archie and Benny immediately stopped, offering her support. Suddenly, a wave of water hit them, sending them tumbling into the stream. They quickly recovered, knowing how to swim.
Roxanne, expecting fear, went to them. Instead, she heard laughter. Archie and Benny found the incident hilarious, as did Estella. However, the unexpected wave worried the boys, and they decided against letting Estella join them.
They abandoned their water fight, searching for pebbles and trying to catch fish. Estella, though disappointed, remained content, watching her brothers from the shore.
