Chapter 938: Has Something Happened?
Benny and Estella suffered from such severe stomachaches they could not heed Archie. Estella cried loudly, oblivious to her surroundings. Benny wanted to comfort her, but could only moan in pain. Gritting his teeth, he fought back groans and tears. He silently vowed, I have to be brave for Mommy! I can't fail her over a little pain!
The situation alarmed Archie; he wanted to fetch Roxanne. Remembering the herbs were nearby, he thought, I should be able to return quickly! However, he saw Estella rolling on the ground in agony, straying from the tent.
Archie, with difficulty, guided Estella back. He knew he couldn't leave Benny and Estella in this state. After considering his options, he used his watch to contact Roxanne. She was happily foraging for herbs, a pleasant surprise during their camping trip.
As she gathered herbs, her phone rang. Pausing, she answered, wondering who would call at that moment. Seeing Archie's name, her expression changed. She immediately looked toward the tent.
Did something bad happen? she worried. Quickly grabbing her herbs, she hurried back, phone pressed to her ear.
"Archie, what's wrong? What happened?"
Archie's voice was anxious. "Mommy, come back quicklyโ" The line was abruptly cut.
Roxanne frowned, staring at the phone. Her heart pounded as she quickened her pace. As the tent came into view, she saw Benny and Estella on the ground, clutching their stomachs.
Archie knelt beside them, trying to prevent them from rolling farther.
"What's wrong?" Roxanne rushed to their side, checking their temperature and breathing. Archie's eyes were bloodshot with anxiety. "Benny and Essie suddenly have stomachaches! Mommy, look at them quickly! They're in a lot of pain!"
He'd initially planned to fetch Roxanne himself, but his siblings' pain prevented him from leaving. He'd resorted to calling her instead.
Roxanne reassured him. "Don't worry! I'll make sure they're okay."
She tried to gently examine Estella, but the little girl's arms were tightly wrapped around her stomach. Roxanne couldn't move them.
"Essie, let me see your stomach," Roxanne pleaded.
Estella looked up, tearful eyes wide. "Ms. Jarvis, it hurts so much..."
Seeing Estella's pale face for the first time, Roxanne's heart ached. She moved to examine Benny, who was bravely enduring his immense pain, cradling his stomach without a sound.
