Chapter 975: Breaking My Heart

After lunch, Archie and Benny feigned a need for a nap before returning to their room. Roxanne, also feeling weary, tidied the dining room and then rested.

Upstairs, in the boys' room, Archie and Benny, instead of sleeping, sat on the edges of their beds, sadness etched on their faces.

"I feel so sad, Archie," Benny said, his lips pursed, tears welling in his eyes. He'd always been more sensitive. Sonya's scolding, coupled with Estella's removal, had deeply affected him.

Archie rose and sat beside him. Seeing Benny's red eyes, he said, "You can feel sad, but you can't cry."

Benny pouted. "But why did Grandma have to talk to us that way?" He'd meant to be polite addressing Sonya as Grandma. The memory of her scolding brought tears to his eyes.

Archie understood. "Grandma treated us that way because she doesn't know about our background. Besides, she hasn't accepted Mommy yet. I wonder what happened when Daddy and Mommy separated. It seems she dislikes Mommy."

Benny nodded in agreement. "What Grandma said to Mommy was worse than what she said to us." He worried about Roxanne's feelings. Mommy must be feeling worse than we do.

"If we want Grandma to treat Mommy better, we must get Daddy and Mommy back together," Archie stated seriously. "Only then will they resolve their misunderstandings, and Grandma will learn about our background."

"Then Grandma won't have a problem with Essie calling us her brothers!" Benny exclaimed excitedly. Anticipation shone in Archie's eyes as he nodded.

"But…" Benny frowned.

Archie looked at him questioningly.

"I don't know what Daddy's going to do about Ms. Pearson," Benny said softly. "As long as she's around, Mommy won't accept Daddy. Daddy's at fault too. He said he'd settle it, but he hasn't."

Archie shared his worry but chose to trust Lucian. Since Daddy said he would handle it, he surely will!

They made a decision. If their father succumbed to Grandma's pressure and married Ms. Pearson, they would reveal their identities. Then Daddy will surely leave Ms. Pearson!

Meanwhile, Sonya drove Estella back to the Farwell residence. Estella cried throughout the journey. Sonya, initially angry with Roxanne, found her heart breaking at Estella's sobs.

"You're a good girl, Essie. I'll take you shopping for pretty dresses and dolls, okay?" Sonya attempted distraction, to no avail.

Estella continued crying. Sonya changed tactics.

"I want Daddy…" Estella sobbed, tears streaming down her face.

Sonya sighed. I'd rather she ask for Lucian than Roxanne!
