That struck Roxanne as odd. "Is Catalina unavailable? Why would he personally pick her up if he's unwell?" she asked, looking at Archie and Benny with confusion. Their faces mirrored her concern; they thought of Aubree. Perhaps Mommy's presence would deter the "evil woman." Maybe, they mused, Mommy's visit would even scare Aubree away, eliminating Estella's fear.

Archie explained, "The evil woman was bringing Essie home, but Essie refused. Mr. Farwell arrived before things escalated."

"Mr. Farwell knows Essie doesn't like her," Archie added cheerfully. Roxanne knew the "evil woman's" identity, but didn't bother correcting them.

Aubree's audacity in going to the kindergarten indicated knowledge of Lucian's illness, perhaps even originating from the Farwell residence. This brought back memories of the bacterial infection. Though lacking concrete proof, they suspected Nancy's past employment at the Pearson family's research institute linked Aubree to it.

If Aubree had dared to harm Estella twice, what was to stop her from harming Lucian? A chill ran down Roxanne's spine. She'd known Lucian for years, and never seen him ill; this felt serious.

"Mommy, are you listening?" Archie and Benny anxiously asked, noticing her pensive state.

Roxanne snapped back to reality, forcing a smile. "It sounds serious. Has he seen a doctor?"

"I think the family doctor saw him, but it didn't reassure Essie," Archie replied. Roxanne felt the same unease. A simple checkup could easily misdiagnose a bacterial infection. Seeing her worry, Archie and Benny's eyes shone.

Benny urged, "Mommy, why don't you check on Mr. Farwell? Essie would feel better if you went."

"Yeah! Essie says you're the best doctor in the world!" Archie added. Roxanne, swayed by her own suspicions and the children's pleas, finally agreed.

"I'll visit after dinner," she said. Archie and Benny were surprised by her immediate agreement, taking a moment to recover.

"We want to go too!"

Roxanne frowned. "No, you should stay home. He might pass a cold to you."

"We just want to see Essie! We promise not to go inside!" they insisted, genuinely worried about their father. Roxanne, assuming they simply wanted to play with Estella, dismissed the idea.

After dinner, they urged her to leave immediately.
