Nelson made a phone call. Francis, terrified at the prospect of Mad Dog's arrival with his men, knew he'd be involved and beaten. The Lelands might also be implicated. His legs turned to jelly. He immediately spun around, jumped in his car, and drove to a safe distance to observe, leaving Xara behind.

Xara, though not from Cansington, knew the Lelands were a wealthy family. Despite this, Francis's fear of offending the man demonstrated the man's intimidating power.

"Quick, let's run!" she whispered to James.

James, however, remained unconcerned. He glanced at Nelson, who was still on the phone, admiring his handsome face—a feature he used to deceive women. Nelson's confident smirk turned sour as James sneered, "You'd better get more people. One-on-one, I'll beat you."

Nelson's handsome face contorted with anger. "Brat, your background won't save you."

"James, let's go," Xara urged, grabbing him. "I'm the Callahans' live-in son-in-law, a retired soldier. Three or five men are no match for me."

Relieved, Xara decided to stay and watch.

Several limousines arrived, disgorging a swarm of menacing men armed with iron rods. From a few dozen meters away, Francis trembled. "It's over! Xara, why didn't you leave? I can't save you."

Nelson's confidence soared as his reinforcements arrived. "You're dead, brat!" he snarled.

A fierce-looking man in his thirties, Samuel Hoffman—Mad Dog's top lieutenant, with a scar across his bald head and a thick gold chain—approached. Nelson bowed. "Samuel, you didn't need to come personally for such a small matter." He pointed to James and Xara. "That brat and woman were my targets. I was taking her to our boss when he interfered."

Samuel's eyes lit up at the sight of Xara, his gaze raking over her ponytail, white t-shirt, and denim skirt. He'd never seen such beauty. "Break his legs and grab the woman!" he ordered.

Suddenly, a jeep screeched to a halt, horns blaring. Several heavily armed soldiers emerged. They were under the Blithe King, who'd sent them to follow James, preventing further impulsive violence. Seeing the situation, they sprang into action.

The sight of armed soldiers terrified Samuel and his gang. They instantly raised their hands and cowered. The final sentence, appearing to be a website advertisement, has been removed.
