Listen to this chapter:

Xara glanced at James and seated herself. "Are you General Highsmith?" Her eyes gleamed.

Daniel looked at James, who laughed. "Xara, his name's Danny. He's not a general."

"He's right," Daniel quickly agreed, nodding. "Miss Xara, was it? I'm not a general. My name's Daniel or Danny. I just look similar, I guess." He stumbled over his words.

Zara laughed heartily. She hadn't expected the majestic-looking general from TV to have such a cute side. She knew the man before her was General Highsmith—she'd watched the Blithe King's succession ceremony countless times. There was no mistaking him. He had to be Daniel. Danny? Seriously?

"General Highsmith," Xara blushed, summoning her courage, "Can I get a picture with you?"

Daniel glanced at James.

James smiled. "Feel free. It doesn't cost a thing."

Daniel nodded. "Then, let's take a photo."

Delighted, Xara sat beside Daniel, careful not to get too close. She quickly took a selfie, then got closer—almost touching—held up a peace sign, and snapped another. Snap! Snap! Snap! She took over a dozen more photos, experimenting with different poses.

Meanwhile, James ate, famished after skipping breakfast.

Finally satisfied, Xara, cheeks flushed, said, "General Highsmith, thank you so much. You're my idol! I hope you don't mind all the photos."

"Haha, it's alright" Daniel laughed awkwardly. "Danny aren't you eating? If not, then leave."

"Oh, okay."

Daniel quickly stood and left, as if relieved.

"Hey!" Xara called after him, but he was already gone.

Turning to James, she exclaimed, "What are you doing? That was General Highsmith! My idol! How could you make him leave?" Her expression changed. "Wait you can order General Daniel Highsmith around?"

James replied, "Daniel? He's Danny. And why do you keep calling him a general?"

Xara seated herself, glaring at James. Her useless brother-in-law was shrouded in secrecy. She remembered Daniel's barely perceptible smile at the airport. "James, are you one of the Five Commanders?"

Few knew of the Five Commanders' existence, but Xara, a military enthusiast, knew some details. Daniel was the Blithe King's subordinate, yet James, though not the king, had authority over Daniel. He had to be one of the Five Commanders.

"Huh?" James was speechless. She'd figured out his identity from a single meeting with Daniel.

"Yes," James finally said, smiling. "I'm one of the Five Commanders."

Francis, who'd been hiding, approached, scowling at James's vacated seat. "Pfft! If you're one of the Five Commanders, then I'm the Emperor of the Capital!"

Xara immediately lost interest. She'd heard about James's past; he'd retired from the army. How could he be one of the Five Commanders, and why would one of the Five Commanders marry into the Callahans?
