Listen to this chapter:

Xara firmly believed James should be the General of the Southern Plains. James merely laughed and remained silent.

They arrived at Thea's house shortly afterward. Gladys and her family had left early that morning to attend to car insurance and other household matters. They had only recently returned home.

Thea and Yuna had also just returned from shopping at the Trade City Center. By the time James arrived, it was almost one o'clock. Gladys scolded him as he entered, "How long does it take to pick up one person? Look at the time! What are you waiting for? Get cooking!"

Since James married into the Callahan family, Gladys had stopped cooking. Everyone had grown lazy, and no one had bothered to prepare lunch. James carried his suitcase inside and set it aside. Upon hearing Gladys's words, he nodded. "I'll get to it right now."

He immediately went to the kitchen. "Xara," Gladys greeted warmly. Xara watched James enter, her eyebrows furrowing. She had been observing his every move. His airport altercation, settled with his fists, his lunch with General Highsmith, and his bringing her to the military region for a photo with the Blithe king—how could he be an ordinary man? Yet, at the Callahan residence, he seemed a completely different person.

She scanned the Callahan family before greeting them with a simple, "Hello." Her gaze finally fell on Thea. She couldn't believe her eyes.

"Thea, is that you?"

"Xara, it's been a while," Thea replied warmly.

Xara stared at Thea. She had heard Thea had restored her looks and was now beautiful, but she hadn't expected this level of gorgeousness. Xara almost felt jealous. Thea's figure and face were truly stunning. "Thea, was it James who helped you?" Xara asked, astonished.

"Yes," Thea said, smiling. "Don't just stand there. Come and sit."

Xara took a deep breath. "Is James that impressive?"

Gladys immediately dismissed the idea. "He just has some medical knowledge. He's not worthy of Thea at all. I'm still thinking of ways to get Thea to divorce him. With her charms, she can easily find a better man."

"That's right," Xara agreed, clapping. "You're right, Gladys. James is unworthy of her. We should separate them as soon as possible." (*She added to herself, 'Once he's divorced, I'll finally have my shot.')

He was an impressive man with medical knowledge. How would she find another like him?

"Mom…" Thea looked disgruntled, glancing at Xara. "Xara, why are you encouraging her?"

Xara smiled. "Thea, you're a beautiful woman. I don't think a man like James, who married into the family, is worthy of you."

David chimed in, "She's right, Thea. You shouldn't settle for James. Aren't you getting along well with Ms. Lawson of Longevity Pharmaceuticals? Have her introduce you to a rich guy. That way, I can benefit from your relationship too."

Thea's family united in their efforts to convince her to divorce James.

Meanwhile, James was in the kitchen.

At the same time, at the Callahan villa, Lex summoned his family again. He was still reeling from yesterday's events—the men kneeling before Thea, begging forgiveness—an image too shocking for him. Even if Alex, Bryan, and Jay apologized due to outside obligations, it was still a form of social networking. "We have to get Thea back," Lex ordered.

Howard said, "Father, we tried. Thea and her family aren't interested. Even offering twenty percent of the shares wouldn't bring them back."

Lex sat on the sofa, smoking. He opened his eyes. "Howard, do you know what my dream is?"

Howard replied, "Father, your dream is to make the Callahans a powerful and influential family."
