Listen to this chapter:

Yoke, the general's secretary, nearly fainted from fear after hearing the Blithe King's order. However, fainting wouldn't save him. His rapid rise through the ranks had undoubtedly involved unsavory methods, methods certain to be exposed by a thorough investigation. Hundreds of people filled the House of Royals' grand living room, yet none dared to speak; the atmosphere was thick with tension.

Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! Two heavy leather-soled boots thudded on the floor. Two fully armed soldiers approached and carried away the unconscious Yoke.

Meanwhile, Chase, a star on his shoulder, paled, sweat beading on his forehead. "Whatwhat's going on?" he stammered, utterly bewildered by the unfolding events. His first visit to Cansington had been uneventful, but now the Blithe King had appeared at the House of Royals.

The Blithe King regarded Brody, who instantly weakened, collapsing to the floor. Stomp! Stomp! Stomp! The King approached in his leather boots. "Are you Brody, deputy captain of the specialized police unit in North Cansington?" Brody, frozen and drenched in sweat, could only stare. The King tossed a report to the floor. "Examine this." Brody picked it up; his eyes rolled back, and he fainted. Wendy sobbed, embracing the unconscious Brody. Lex, out of curiosity, picked up the documents. His face drained as he read the detailed account of Brody's corruption and illegal activities, including dates and specifics of bribes and other benefits.

"Take him away," the King commanded.

Two fully armed soldiers dragged away the unconscious Brody. Wendy wept openly. The Callahans, faces etched with terror, stared at each other in stunned silence.

"What are you still doing here? Do you want to be arrested? Get out!" The Blithe King roared, his voice echoing through the villa. His rage was palpable. James, it seemed, had constantly caused him trouble.

Terrified, the influential guests at the House of Royals scattered. From outside, watching the surveillance footage, Henry sneered, "He lifted them to heaven and dropped them into hell. They've truly hit rock bottom."

James calmly smoked a cigarette. The House of Royals was emptying. Lex's birthday guests had fled, even leaving their gifts behind. The Callahans' apparent new beginning had taken a catastrophic turn.

The Blithe King, after fulfilling James' request, turned to leave. "Lex, prepare the thirty billion dollars immediately," Scarlett warned before departing. Only the Callahans and close relatives remained.

Outside the House of Royals, the Blithe King stood before a black, license-less car. "This is the last time," he said indifferently to James before turning away.

James tossed him a cigarette. It whizzed past the King's ear, but he caught it. He left, watched by James and Henry.

The joyous celebration had devolved into a humiliating farce. Inside the Callahan villa, Lex's displeasure was evident. The events of the evening were deeply embarrassing.
