He looked at Howard and said, "Howard, investigate this immediately. If Thea was behind it, she won't get off easily."

Howard nodded.

Meanwhile, Tommy wore a scheming expression. He flashed Wendy a victorious smile. Lex stood and went upstairs to rest. On the first floor, in the hallway, Howard confronted Tommy.

"Did you have anything to do with this?"

Discomposed, Tommy stammered, "What are you talking about, Father? How's that possible?"

Howard said coldly, "This is serious. If anything happens, it will destroy the Callahans. Thea's not foolish enough to do this." Tommy panicked when he saw the deceased's family causing a commotion. His plan was supposed to be flawless; he only wanted to trouble Thea. The medicine was faulty, but it wasn't meant to be fatal. "Father, Thea's controlling us. If this continues, she'll rule the family." Tommy confessed.

"It was me. I bribed Yosef Zaborowski, who handled the medicine, to substitute it with substandard drugs. I just wanted to show Thea who's boss. I didn't expect things to nearly get out of hand."

Smash! Howard slammed the table. Tommy hurriedly explained, "Father, I did this for you. We have twenty percent of the shares, but Thea used all the profits to expand the business. We haven't benefited, so what good are those shares? Only by removing her can we get more money and control the family."

Megan interjected, "Father, you're the eldest Callahan son. You should be in charge, not Thea. Look what happened today. They paid compensation without asking Grandpa's permission. Does she have your and Grandpa's best interests at heart?"

Howard nodded.

"Then we'll shift the blame to her. I'll find Yosef and make the necessary arrangements." Howard stood and went to Eternality Group.

A sixty-year-old man entered the vice-chairman's office.

"Howard, I hear you were looking for me." Howard asked, "Yosef, you've worked at Eternality for twenty years, haven't you?"

Yosef nodded, sighing. "Yes. Twenty years have flown by. I remember when Eternality was a small workshop. Now it's a huge corporation." Howard placed a card on the desk and pushed it toward Yosef. "Howard, what's this?"

Howard said, "Yosef, you're nearing retirement. This card has a million dollars—enough for the rest of your life. Tomorrow, I want you to accuse Thea of masterminding the substandard medicine."

Yosef was speechless.

"Relax. No one knows you conspired with Tommy. And I won't pursue the hundred thousand dollar matter. Once this is done, take the card and retire with dignity. Otherwise, your conspiracy with Tommy will be exposed. You don't want a legal battle before retirement, do you? Shift the blame to Thea, and insist she threatened you with firing if you spoke up." Greed flashed across Yosef's face. He'd worked for a meager salary for twenty years. A quick fortune before retirement wouldn't be bad. "I'm in."

"Good."

Howard looked satisfied. [The final sentence promoting a website was removed as it was irrelevant to the text cleanup.]
