The Xaviers, leaders of Cansington's Great Four, celebrated a double triumph. Megatron Group, one of their many businesses, had forged a partnership with Celestial Group, significantly expanding their influence. This joyous occasion coincided with the 80th birthday of family patriarch, Warren Xavier.
Outside their villa, a fleet of luxury cars disgorged Cansington's elite, gathered for the dual celebration. A lady with a microphone enthusiastically announced the lavish gifts: an eight-million-dollar bottle of Retrouve wine from the Frasiers; a twelve-million-dollar painting, "The Black Thorn" by Jacqui en Blanc, from the Wilsons; and an eight-point-eight-million-dollar Froit Mi watch from the Zimmermans.
Inside, the eighty-year-old Warren, though spry in his blue suit, was completely unaware of the impending doom. Even the Callahans, usually second-tier, were present, Lex Callahan having splurged on a Monique wallet for Warren in a blatant attempt at ingratiation. The guests mingled, networking and making connections.
Suddenly, a masked man in a brown coat approached, effortlessly carrying a coffin weighing at least 100 kilograms. It was James, driven by a thirst for revenge and a need to repay Thea, his wife. He wore the mask to protect her identity.
Crash! He hurled the coffin through the villa's entrance, shattering the door and landing amidst the shocked guests. Silence descended.
Warren, mid-conversation with other family heads, roared, "What's this? Where are the security guards? Who sent this? Take it away at once!"
From outside, a voice boomed, "Warren Xavier, accept this coffin as your birthday gift. Today is your eightieth birthday; next year, it will be your death anniversary." A man in a brown coat and a ghost mask entered.
"Who… who are you?" Warren demanded.
"Someone who wants your life," James replied, his voice cold.
A young man, William Xavier, intervened, "I don't care who you are. On Xavier property, we're in charge." He tried to remove James's mask.
James reacted swiftly, seizing William's arm and snapping it clean off. Blood sprayed everywhere. William screamed in agony.
The horrified guests, unused to such violence, recoiled. James, displaying brutal strength and confidence, tossed the severed arm aside. The Xaviers, terrified, shrank back. Even Warren, hand instinctively reaching for a weapon, was momentarily paralyzed.
James stalked towards Warren, William's moans filling the stunned silence. Finally, William fainted. Only James's footsteps echoed.
"Kneel," James commanded.
His imposing presence, honed from years as a soldier, silenced the room. Warren, overwhelmed, knelt.
James, holding a wire fashioned from countless needles, asked, "Warren Xavier, do you care to admit your sins?"
Warren, sweating, tried to rise but lacked the strength. "Boy, do you know who you're speaking to?" he snarled, hand still reaching for a weapon. The other Xaviers remained frozen, afraid to intervene.
"Ten years ago, a fire at Flora Lakeside claimed thirty-eight lives," James said, his voice chillingly calm. "Now, you pay in blood."
James moved with lightning speed, wrapping the wire around Warren's neck and pulling. Blood spurted. Warren's head fell to the floor. Screams erupted.
James collected Warren's head in a black bag and departed. The villa was plunged into a terrifying silence. Warren's headless body lay in the foyer; William was rushed to the hospital. The Xaviers knelt, overwhelmed.
Rowena, Warren's youngest daughter – the same Rowena who had utterly destroyed the Cadens – raged, "Has anyone called Trent?"
Later, at Cadens' cemetery, James left the bag at Thomas Caden's grave, pouring the contents of a flask onto the tombstone. He vowed to bring peace to his family and reclaim Moonlit Flowers on Cliffside's Edge.
Back at the Xaviers' villa, the remaining family knelt before Warren's corpse. The celebrities had fled.
Meanwhile, in Cansington's military region, Trent Xavier, Warren's fourth son, arrived, his face grim. He learned of the attack, watched the surveillance footage, and identified James as a Caden survivor, vowing revenge. He ordered a simple burial for his father and prepared to seek justice.
