Listen to this chapter:

Many fully armed soldiers and a high-ranking lieutenant stood at the military region's entrance, ramrod straight and motionless. The lieutenant, instead of taking action, quietly walked aside and made a phone call. In a hushed voice, he said, "Sir, I've thrown Lex Callahan out, but the Black Dragon's car is here. The Callahans are blocking his way. They don't seem to know James's true identity. What should I do now?"

The reply was curt: "Just do your job. Ignore the rest."

"Yes, sir."

The lieutenant continued to wait at the entrance, ignoring the lack of invitations.

Meanwhile, James remained speechless in the face of the Callahans' insults. Rolling down his window, he leaned out, addressing their scowls. "What are you doing? Just because you can't get in doesn't mean I can't. Where's the rule that says no one can drive in?" Some of them had even climbed onto his car hood.

Just then, a car approached, its license plate reading CANO0001. At the sight of the car, the Callahans stepped aside. The soldiers saluted and allowed the car to pass.

James pointed to the departing vehicle. "See? That's a car."

Tommy, still perched on the hood, shouted viciously, "James, are you stupid? That's the mayor's car! Who do you think you are? Get out now!"

Gladys, slightly shaken, whispered, "James, are you sure this will work?"

James replied confidently, "Don't worry, Mom. I'll make you proud. I promise we'll get in. If I fail, I'll divorce Thea."

Thea retorted sharply, "How dare you!"

Gladys's confidence returned. She fixed her gaze on the pale Lex. "Dad, you were thrown out? Didn't the Oswalds help us get an invitation? What's going on? If you've been barred, get in James's car. Let him take you in."

Lex fumed, "Piece of trash. What an embarrassment."

Then, unexpectedly, he declared, "From now on, Benjamin and his family have nothing to do with the Callahans. Make way, all of you. Let them do whatever they want!"

The Callahans reluctantly stepped aside, their mocking glances suggesting they were watching a spectacle.

As James approached the entrance, the soldiers sprang to attention, saluting smartly. He rolled down his window and addressed the lieutenant. "You there. What's your name?"

Stunned for a moment, the lieutenant straightened and replied, "General, I'm Lieutenant Daniel Highsmith, under the Blithe King."

James smiled. "Daniel Highsmith. Very well. You're excellent at your job. I'll say some nice things about you to the Blithe King. You'll get promoted soon enough."

"Thank you, sir."

The shock rippled through the onlookers, including the Callahans, as James drove into the military region.

Lex, attempting to catch up, ran too quickly, slipped, and fell. By the time he recovered, James was gone. Blocked by the soldiers, he shouted, "What are you doing? Do you know who that was? That's my grandson-in-law!"

Daniel simply repeated, "Throw him out." And once more, Lex was ejected.
