Listen to this chapter:

James never expected to become someone else's driver, but he found Gladys's actions strangely cathartic. He repeatedly drove into and out of the military region.

The Callahans' faces paled with anger, while the other moguls enjoyed the spectacle. Daniel looked resigned. James, the Black Dragon, was behaving like a nobody. The embarrassment of word reaching the Capital weighed on him, yet he felt remarkably good. His days were now free and easy.

As he was about to re-enter the military region, Thea stopped him.

"Jamie, that's enough. You're holding up the line."

James turned to Gladys. "Are you satisfied yet, Mom?"

"Haha. Yes, absolutely!" Gladys grinned. That felt good; the proudest she'd felt in years. All the millionaires from the five regions watched her.

"If you’re happy now, I must return the car. It doesn’t belong to me," James said.

Gladys's smile froze. However, since he'd borrowed the car to please her, she didn't rebuke him further. "I’m good. Let’s go."

"Got it."

James drove away, watched by the Callahans and the moguls. After dropping Thea and Gladys off, he headed to the House of Royals, parking the car before taking a cab to the Callahans'.

Before he could enter, he heard Gladys's laughter.

"Haha, it was hilarious. You didn’t see the Callahans; they looked like they had egg on their faces! So funny…"

"Mom, James messed up. Are you going to make the same mistake?" David said angrily.

"How could you say that about Grandfather? It wasn’t easy to get those shares. Now, Grandfather must be furious; he’ll revoke the rest," Alyssa added.

"So be it," Gladys replied indifferently. "The old man never treated Benjamin well, thinking him useless. And with Howard whispering in his ear, he would have revoked our shares anyway." Gladys knew the Callahan family well.

"Mom, why? We're talking about money! Why are we rejecting money?" Alyssa protested, unhappy at the prospect of losing their five percent dividend, especially so close to the end of the month.

Now, it was all gone.

James entered the open door.

"James, you’re home. Come, sit…" Gladys greeted him warmly, having let the matter drop. Even without the shares, she had savings and planned to set up a clinic for James. His skills would ensure his livelihood.

David and Alyssa glared murderously.

"Jamie…" Thea made room for James. "James, I’ve thought about it. I have over two million dollars—Thea gave it to me. Let’s set up a clinic and a pharmacy. We can make a living that way. It’s better than bowing down to the Callahans, and Benjamin, quit your job at Eternality. I refuse to believe we'll starve."

James glanced at Gladys, seeing her only as a woman obsessed with wealth.
