Chapter 150

In Falco's office, Walter adamantly insisted on Vivienne's detention, suspecting her involvement. Falco was in a difficult position, facing his formidable brother-in-law while also needing to rely on a trusted colleague. He had no choice but to trust Vivienne.

Thankfully, Vivienne produced a recording from her phone, revealing Steve's declaration of being kidnapped and his captors' ransom demand.

"Really, you went on a rescue?" Walter exclaimed, incredulous. He found it hard to believe such a seemingly delicate woman had ventured into such danger. Pausing to compose himself, he began, "Assuming this is a kidnapping case…"

Vivienne interrupted, pausing reflectively before calmly explaining, "We shouldn't jump to conclusions. Let's investigate these two to uncover the larger conspiracy. Another accomplice escaped; apprehending him quickly is crucial to prevent alerting the others."

"Do you think this is linked to Brevard?" Cameron asked, observing Vivienne intently.

Vivienne replied, "I've already contacted CBP for the relevant files. I'll leave the follow-up to you, Uncle Falco."

At her mention of "Uncle Falco," Cameron sneered, "What kind of uncle is he?"

Falco was momentarily speechless. The Sinclair family's influence notwithstanding, Cameron's blatant contempt in this public setting was highly inappropriate.

As the meeting concluded, Vivienne asked, "May I leave now?"

After a brief hesitation, Walter replied, "I'll see you out."

Approaching the exit, Corine stopped and looked back at Falco. "Uncle Falco, you haven't mentioned who informed you of my situation."

Falco replied casually, "It was Milo Tomas from the Brighton Group."

Vivienne subtly raised an eyebrow, suppressing a smile. "Ah, so he was the one." It was clear Milo acted on Derek's orders.

Corine seemed amused by this revelation, while Cameron, seated thoughtfully on the sofa, appeared lost in thought.

Leaving the police station, Vivienne was met by Milo, who said, "Miss Hayes, Mr. Hopkins is waiting for you in the car." He started to escort her.

However, Walter quickly intervened. "Milo, may I ask you something?"

"What is your question?" Milo remained composed.

"There's no conflict between us, so why instruct me to target Miss Hayes personally?"

Milo looked bewildered. He had never given such an order! His gaze instinctively flicked to Vivienne.

With a subtle, knowing smile, she observed him intently. Feeling the intensity of her gaze, a chill went through him. He turned back to Walter and said, "I was merely assisting you, Walter. It's unfair to accuse me of such things!"

"You were the one who suggested I personally oversee Miss Hayes's case, weren't you?" Walter's expression was innocent.

Caught between amusement and indignation, Milo clenched his teeth. "Walter, when I suggested you personally oversee this case, I meant you should ensure Miss Hayes's safety. There was no reason to target her specifically!"

Milo wasn't sure whether to find Walter charmingly naive or infuriatingly obtuse.
