Chapter 254: Admiration For Vivienne
“Sweetheart, how could I ever blame you?” Warren murmured, drawing Natalie close and tenderly brushing away the tears from her cheeks. “We’ve hit a few bumps with the company. There’s talk of pulling out investments, and I’m working on smoothing things over.”
A flicker of concern crossed Natalie’s eyes. “Is Calan Archer among them?”
Unlike Vivienne, who was assertive and involved in business, Natalie had always envisioned a life on the stage and steered clear of corporate affairs.
Warren was pleased to address her curiosity. “He and a few others. I plan to have them back on board shortly.”
That day, Calan had confronted Warren at a charged board meeting, a reminder that Warren needed to be more proactive about the company’s stability. The current investments had been secured through Vivienne’s efforts. These investors trusted her completely, and there was always the risk they might follow her suggestion if she persuaded them to pull out, catching him off guard.
Guilt shadowed Natalie’s features. “I’m sorry. This turmoil… it’s all because of me. Without me, there wouldn’t be any misunderstandings or board issues…”
“It’s not your fault,” Warren reassured her with a soft, understanding look. “We’re not ready to go public with our engagement yet, which means some discomfort for you for now.”
Natalie settled into his embrace. “As long as your love is true, I can handle any challenge.”
A flicker of remorse passed through Warren’s eyes as he held her close. “Natalie, I promise you a lavish wedding down the line.”
Natalie offered a weak smile, staying silent. Then, struck by a sudden idea, she looked up at Warren. “I’ve heard Calan and his wife are quite devoted to each other. Perhaps she could be our way in?”
Chapter 254: Admiration For Vivienne
“Calan was one of Vivienne’s recruits,” Warren explained. “I’m not sure how she managed it, but his backing has certainly made things easier for Mitchell Group.”
Warren was unaware that his tone carried a hint of admiration for Vivienne whenever he spoke of these matters. This didn’t escape Natalie.
She bit her lip secretly, her gaze dropping to conceal the chill in her eyes. “I’ve met Calan’s wife during some charity events. She’s organizing a charity auction soon. We should attend and show our support. It might just help us turn the corner, don’t you think?”
A soft glimmer of amusement appeared in Warren’s eyes as he grinned. “You truly are an invaluable partner. You always come through with strategies when we need them most.”
“Well, I am your fiancée,” Natalie responded, her smile radiating as she rose to give him a tender kiss.
Vivienne stepped out of the bathroom just as her phone rang with a call from Sienna.
“Have you seen the message I just sent?” Sienna’s eager voice came through as soon as Vivienne picked up.
“I’ve just gone over it,” Vivienne responded, casually drying her hair. She strolled to the kitchen island and poured herself a glass of water. “The debacle at the anniversary celebration has definitely tarnished Mitchell Group’s image, though it’s not crippling. Still, things won’t be smooth sailing for the Mitchell family.”
The loss of five percent in market value and the southern city land was indeed a heavy hit to the Mitchell family. They might not have been completely defeated, but they were definitely left weakened.
“After the revelation of Warren and Natalie’s scandal, the Mitchell Group’s shares took a nosedive. The board members are unlikely to just let this slide!” Sienna commented.
